Anyone else infatuated with their Acoustic?
I sure as hell know that I am. In the last month, I think I've plugged my electrics in MAYBE three times? I just get a lot more satisfaction out of playing my acoustic nowadays it seems.
It doesn't really hurt that my acoustic is ridiculously good sounding, playing, and looking....
But anyone else in the same boat?

Re: Anyone else infatuated with their Acoustic?
there's been a succession of rather nice 60s gibsons at one of my neighborhood shops over the last few months...
almost makes me want to give up this whole electric guitar fad.

Mine is a Gorgeous 79 Guild.
I traded in an Acoustic, a Bass, a 79 Vibro Champ, and some cash for it.
Completely worth it.

Re: Anyone else infatuated with their Acoustic?
I've been trying to write songs lately. I just can't do that on my electric guitar. I come up with four chords I like, and then just try out that same part with different combinations of effects.
I've actually picked a bad acoustic guitar to try them on - my old three-quarter size "classical" (term used lightly) guitar. The fretboard only goes up to 12 before you get to the body, so I only have on octave (well... you know what I mean ) to work in. It helps focus.

I love my 60s EKO Ranger VI. If it ever breaks I'll hang myself. or at least use the bolt on neck for an electric build. It so easy to play and has a big ol flat radius chunky neck which I love.
here's me playing some Tori Amos on it:

I agree. It must be something about Guilds.
That little guy is a tiple. These are my only acoustics and both are an absolute blast to play.

Re: Anyone else infatuated with their Acoustic?
I haven't switched on a guitar amp in at least six months, I'm all about the acoustics right now. The only electric I play is my solid-body resonator guitar, and thanks to the resonator it's as loud as my acoustics anyway so I just play it acoustically.
Got my first gig as a solo acoustic guitarist coming up in 10 days time. No amp, no effects, just a valve preamp and the same LR Baggs pickup that's in Jonesie's Guild.

Great cover of that Tori Amos song man. And a hilarious JM demoSkiptracer1981 wrote:I love my 60s EKO Ranger VI. If it ever breaks I'll hang myself. or at least use the bolt on neck for an electric build. It so easy to play and has a big ol flat radius chunky neck which I love.

Re: Anyone else infatuated with their Acoustic?
I'm the exact opposite, lol. About once a year I'll crave playing on an acoustic so i'll go out and buy one and then a month or so later I'll end up selling it for an amp or something.
My first couple acoustics I paid pretty good money for (a Takamine and then a really nice Tanglewood), but atleast now I know that when the acoustic bug bites to buy a cheaper model. Right now my only acoustic is a solid top Yamaha and that suits my acoustic needs just fine.
I find I only ever reach for an acoustic when no soure of electricity is available. I should keep it in my emergency pack with the bottled water and flashlights (aka torches for you across-the-ponders) .

yea that demo was a good laugh. I made it for a friend and I was kinda 'influenced' , if you get my drift.slavemaster wrote:Great cover of that Tori Amos song man. I love my acoustic! In my mind, my acoustic perfect and I've never wanted any other. Here's a link to a thread I posted with some pictures of it (hopefully the link works): viewtopic.php?f=9&t=13358&start=0&hilit=Gibson+Gospel

I totally with Paul on this one. I have NEVER wanted another acoustic since purchasing my Guild D35 ten years ago. It is so perfect, why would I want another?
Mine comes with a cool story: my uncle has a D35 that he bought new from the Westerly, RI factory. He always brought it out on family holidays and I would love hearing that thing. I bought mine used in Florida 15 years later and the serial numbers are only 190 units apart.

Re: Anyone else infatuated with their Acoustic?
This cured my acoustic GAS:
It's a Blueridge BG160 and it sounds heavenly.
Like Old Testament Fire & Brimstone good, y'know?
I have been neglecting her since my getting my SG, Tele, and handwired Vox, though.
I should put some new strings on her today before work.

I am in the absolute opposite boat actually. (If you are in an Ocean Liner I am in a Kayak!)
I almost never play acoustic and my wife and kids always pester me to. I just like plugging in, I guess. Maybe the fact that my acoustic has like 6 yr. old strings totally coated in grime also has something to do w/ this?
