2. Try getting a strap like Steve Albini that distributes the weight of the guitar over your hips as opposed to over your shoulder.
Sorry, I don't care who you are, this option is always gonna make you look like some kind of incel or worse.

If you weren't on the other side of the ocean, I'd say you should try out my Bigsby'd p90 Classic for a bit. It weighs like 83lbs or about 37kg for you imperial bastards :D It will make anything feel light by comparison. I'd never heard of 'body dive' till I played it. I still love it though!
This isn’t some kind of metaphor
Goddamn this is real

I tried this technique out once, years ago. It is extremely comfortable for almost all guitars but god damn did it look kooky. And I agree, I think you can only get away with this if you're Albini now. Also, once you have a little bit of a gut, the guitars end up pretty fucking low :D

I don't doubt that at all! Every time I see it i think a) that's cool as hell and b) but I wouldn't want to wear it for more than 10 minutes :D I understand the still loving it though. My Tele is pretty uncomfortable after a few decades of offsets and contoured guitars, especially with the double binding, but it plays and sounds amazing. The Ric had a big ol' slab back that can be annoying and stupid high strings (over body, not action) and stupid restringing method needed. Totally love the jangle though.

Maybe I should spend a whole £600 + £150 for P90 drop-ins and get one of these to replace it :D ...

If you’re going to custom tele you may as well do it properly

The JA-90 is the only fender tele I can find with two P-90s below the custom shop. Alnico staple in the neck of one of these would be tasty.

I remember these. Not only do people want over 2k for them now but that's also a LOT of pickups and knobs to tear out :D

More empty pickup holes is just factory weight reduction.

Prices are somewhat surprising. No idea what they were new.

I thought this situation worthy of more detailed analysis. So I weighed all my main guitars - ones in storage uncluded (I know that's not a real word but it should be).

9lb 15oz 1956 LPC
8lb 1oz 2022 AO Tele/Esquire
8lb 0oz 2010 Partscaster Esquire
7lb 13oz 2007 MIJ JM
7lb 4oz 1979 Guild S-60
7lb 0oz 2008 Ric 360

So, it's a good 2-3lbs heavier than all the others (except my bass which is ½oz heavier but that doesn't count). It seems the 7-8lbs area is my sweet spot.

Ouch, yeah that Les Paul is a boat anchor.

I think I've said it previously, keep the Les Paul as long as you're enjoying it. It's such a lovely piece and highly unlikely you'll ever have the chance to get another. Keep it until you're sick of it and then reap the rewards!
