Just spotted this on the DiMarzio homepage. Really interesting history written by the man himself.

DiMarzio history: Birth of the Super Distortion
I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

Re: DiMarzio history: Birth of the Super Distortion
Whenever I read histories like this it blows me away because I think about how much different New York City and the rest of the US was in the late 60s. To have been around in the late 60s and the 70s when Rock Music became this powerhouse must have been nuts... and then to be around when all those original Fenders and Gibsons were so much more accessible.
Also sort of funny to read about all his benchmark sounds. I mean, it's not surprising at all for a guy who perfected the Super Distortion pickup. I guess I would categorize at boomer power rock or something.
A fun read for sure.
