I still have that one. ADH made it for me. :D That is short scale and this one is full. :) They make a good duo. His body doesn't have contours though. It is more like a Gibson body in that regard.

Oh and sorry for the slower than normal progress on this. I started dating a sweet woman and I have been busy spending time with her....
I still need to do the tremolo rout corners and adjust the tummy cut and it will be ready to dye. I got General Finishes Ebony to try on this one. Going for sort of a Widow effect on this build. Red pickup, black body, black and red knobs, etc. :)

Hey, don't worry about us. Glad to hear your delay is for a good reason!

It is a strange thing after losing my wife to be dating. Ironically in some ways it feels like being in high school. Staying up too late texting, being nervous about making mistakes or knowing what to do or say. She is super smart and so kind though that I have good feelings about it.

Woodtech (the seller on reverb who made my Catalpa Jazzmaster body) offers custom build options through their website. I decided to try to build a weird double cut monster. Basically I want a full scale double cut junior body shape with contours added and a Jazzy tremolo and bridge. I will need to figure out a pickguard and back plate, but it will look similar to this mock up. (But with contours.) It will be made out of Ash. I plan on using some sort of dye on the body and finally having something to put that red humbucker in. :)

Weel, I don't want to be that guy, and really don't think I have ill intent or anything, I'm supportive and all, but as an online friend/acquaintance I have to share my concern here. I really try to think of the positive of such project, but honestly, I think it's a very bad idea to have such a short tremolo arm. It will never work, please be reasonable. :(

I corrected the contour a bit with a sanding block. I like it a lot more now.

Then I used a chisel to square the tremolo route.

Next was General Finished Ebony dye.

Really happy with the dye. I will use some 1000 or 2000 grit to gently sand it back a bit and do a second coat to make sure it is even, but it turned out much better than the Minwax Ebony stain. Much more black. The Minwax was more dark brown. (I use the Minwax ebony stain on light rosewood fretboards still, so it still gets use. LOL)

Thanks! I ordered a tremolo, knobs, pots, thimbles, and a back plate yesterday. :) Already have the red humbucker I didn't use before.

Thanks! A lot of the other parts should come this week. Mostly I just need the neck to be set with all the pieces.

It's weird, but the DCLP is one of my favorite guitar shapes, but it looks wrong without a neck, like it's super heavy in the butt. Or maybe just that some angles of pictures work better than others. Either way, I'm still watching this one excitedly!

It does have a decent booty. Probably helps with neck dive to keep more weight there. :)
