Well it's not as tan as that time she went to Hawaii.

Also I'd caution anyone looking at pink Dimarzios: they changed the bobbins some time recently and the new ones are slightly translucent plastic which gives it a significantly different color tone. I think they more closely match "mauve pink" now rather than "hot pink" knobs and such.
All pain and troubles melted away like lemon drops beyond the contrails across the sky.

I strongly dislike the timbre of the P-Rail pickups, FWIW. May I suggest a Phat Cat or a JB Duncan?

I also find them unappealing all around.

The Phat Cat won't fit without modifying the guard (even the bobbin underneath the cover is square-cornered).

I'm still voting DiMarzio Bluesbucker. If you want to go pricey, something like a Fralin Sunbucker is available uncovered with white bobbins, and is described as "75% alnico single coil tone, 25% humbucker."

I would be 100% confident in the Sunbucker sounding better than any wiring of the P-rails (of which you'll only be able to access one, maybe two if you add a push-pull).

Yeah, despite it not owing me much already, I still don't want to sink large money on parts to get it up to scratch. I've allowed ≤100 for a pickup and ≤50 for tuners. I thought about upgrading the bridge but it really doesn't need it.

The Bluesbucker is a frontrunner for sure, and it comes in cream.

And live in feedback city? No Thanks. The last Tonerider I had squealed like a stuck pig. They're good value for money if you play quietly

I loved the P-Rail I had in a Blacktop Telecaster. Perfect recording pickup. Pretty much only used the P90 side though.

I’d also suggest the Dimarzio Eric Johnson which is purported to be a Filtertron in disguise.
