For the love of God, give me one of these, Kahler-equipped:

I’d say every Fender Jim Root model.

This Charvel looks ready for a quick Floyd Rose re-fit & maybe those active pickups are hot enough already. I love the colour.

I quite like the EVH Wolfgang, tiny offset body and the only one I've played was so easy to get along with. They even do them in sonic blue and seafood green, perfect for us lot.

Adam Clayton have more than Keith Merrow? I remember in the 'guitar by numbers' thread a year or two back, being astonished at how many 'Keith Merrow signature model' Schecters there were- especially for a guitarist I had never heard of before...

Schecter's metal side is a totally mystery to me, I don't know who 90% of those folks are. I think Clayton has two Warwicks (a hideous Reverso and one of those Spector copies) and four Fenders: The green Jazz bass, a purple sparkle Jazz and P bass, and a super expensive gold Precision. He's also just got himself a Fender amp model. Clayton's Fender stuff is all pretty nice and I think the green Jazz is the only thing still in production. I like the guy and his playing but don't really get why his name is on so much stuff.

Are Edge and Bono still on Fender's Board of Directors?

Well, I pulled the trigger on the Charvel So-cal Style 2 this past weekend. I was able to pay a good price on a mint used natural ash model. There's been a bit of an adjustment period to the compound radius neck and the longer scale length, but it's going quickly. It feels like a keeper, but whether or not that proves true, I'm going to develop a lot while finding out.

I feel like it was good timing to buy as Charvel might not be releasing another version exactly like this one again. I read yesterday that in 2021 Fender announced they would stop using swamp ash for production line guitars. Also, inventories at retailers seem to be getting low. L&M in Canada has sold out their black ones and only a few natural remain. Sweetwater had 3 black and 1 natural last week and 2 sold. Reverb has a number of used listings that only ship within the US, but that's about the last remaining supply I could find.

Of all the alternate suggestions offered here, the EVH Wolfgang Special was the one that gave me the longest pause. The D-Tuna and the Floyd Rose were two of its biggest selling points, but the 24 frets, Fluence pickups, and ergonomic cuts on the back of the Charvel won me over in the end. Thanks for the input everyone. Hopefully, if anyone has more thoughts on the "shred for non-shredders" concept in general, they'll keep the thread alive. Always curious to hear the thoughts of fellow guitarists.

Well sorry but I always found the old 90s Ibanez Talman I used to own to feel (and play) absolutely shredderish but without the shifty pointy looks :-*
i love delay SO much ...that i procrastinate all the time.

I love shredder guitars, but I hate skinny necks with flat fingerboards... one day I'm gonna put together a parts-shredder but with a fat neck and 7.25 radius

I also don't want a Floyd. I'd maybe go as far as a Gotoh Wilkinson VS100
