Gretsch G5210T-P90...Decisions, Decisions...
I've got Reverb discount offers for a Gretsch G5210-P90 (without Bigsby) and these two Gretsch G5210T-P90 (with Bigsby). I'm having a hard time deciding which one to go for.
Gretsch G5210-P90 Electromatic Jet Two (without Bigsby) - Cadillac Green - list price $599
Really, really, love the Caddy Green on this one but I don't believe I'll be able to pop on an aftermarket bridge (Tru-Arc) like I do on all my Gretsch guitars due to this new bridge type with huge posts. I'd prefer it had a tremolo but I don't think I could even install either a Les Trem or Bigsby without invasive drilling. But man, that Caddy Green is schweeeeet.
Gretsch G5210T-P90 Electromatic Jet Two (with Bigsby) - Petrol - list price $699
A nice middle ground Ocean Turquoise-y color and like the other G5210T-P90 Mako offering, already has a Bigsby and I can swap out the stock bridge for a Tru-Arc bridge.
Gretsch G5210T-P90 Electromatic Jet Two (with Bigsby) - Mako - list price $699
New, cool blue color named for the mako shark and like the other G5210T-P90 Petrol offering, already has a Bigsby and I can swap out the stock bridge for a Tru-Arc bridge.
If you like them, which one would you go for?
They do other cool color options for each model but these are the ones I'm most interested in. Other colors for the G5210T-P90 are Vintage White and Amethyst (purple). Other colors for the G5210-P90 are Broadway Jade, Fairlane Blue, and Single Barrel Burst.
Also interesting how they have the pickup surrounds to show the plastic cover - I dig it.

All nice guitars, and I voted, but Jesus wept why can't Gretsch give names to their guitars?
Anyway I don't think you'll go wrong.

Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

Re: Gretsch G5210T-P90...Decisions, Decisions...
Edited my opening post to include the model names. The name, "Electromatic Jet Two" is also kind of weird - I don't see the need to add "Two" but I guess they want to differentiate from other Electromatic Jet offerings - still, kind of weak from a marketing standpoint.
Well, they do both (i.e., G6128T = Duo Jet, G6136T = White Falcon) but yeah, I'm not a fan of the model numbers and with so many variations of each Duo Jet, Falcon, etc., it gets even more mind-numbing. I guess they're keeping with tradition.
Most Gretsch guitar players call their guitars by the model name instead of the model number. You don't hear guys saying, "Hey, I'm going to use my G6136T on my next song" instead of "Hey, I'm going to use my White Falcon..."

Oh, OK. I'm a little weak on knowing about Gretsch, so maybe they have better designations that I had thought. Maybe I should get one some day... you seem to be really recommending that White Falcon there, so I guess I should get that.

Re: Gretsch G5210T-P90...Decisions, Decisions...
Please know I was goofing @ Gretsch about their model numbers in my example. The White Falcon is a cool guitar but it's a bit too Las Vegas blingy for my taste - that's why I love the Player Edition version in Midnight Sapphire and the body is a bit thinner. Quite a number of color and other options on Falcons nowadays. Can't really afford one currently and it's a totally unnecessary guitar for me as I have basically the same guitar less bling in my G6196T-59 ( ) '59 Vintage Select Country Club (full size like the standard White Falcon).
Like Fender, there is a deep rabbit hole to dive down into when getting to know Gretsch offerings.

Yowza- I feel your pain, that Cadillac Green is hard to beat!
I'd settle for the Petrol color though since it's Bigsby'd and won't require major work to get it up & running.

I know I’ll be in the minority, but hardtail with P90s is
I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

Yeah, I went for the Petrol offer for the same reasoning and it's a great color - but oh, yeah, that caddy green!SignoftheDragon wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 9:09 amYowza- I feel your pain, that Cadillac Green is hard to beat!

Re: Gretsch G5210T-P90...Decisions, Decisions...
I'd have totally gone for it but it's hard to justify (aside from the fantastic color) when I already have a Gibson Les Paul Tribute hardtail with P90s. I'm trying (likely failing in any case) to be less redundant in my gear.sal paradise wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2023 9:13 amI know I’ll be in the minority, but hardtail with P90s is

I really like this model. Personally my favorite is the white finish, but the petrol one is pretty great too.
I would defnitely go with the bigsby.

I would be a contrarian and go with the Cadillac green, mostly because the B5 style bigsby bugs me on archtop guitars, and you might be able to put the correct kind of bigsby on this.

It's a shame the 'without Bigsby' doesn't come in the Petrol colour, that's a beautiful shade

Re: Gretsch G5210T-P90...Decisions, Decisions...
One thing that always bugged me about Gretsch’s placement of the b5s is that they seem too close to the bridge aesthetically. Personally I would have it half an inch lower down the body. I don’t think it would have an effect on the functionality of the Bigsby.
By the way has anyone seen the rally streamliners coming out soon? They look amazing. They come with hilotron pickups too.
