No, I don't like The Beatles...
...but I did just buy a Rickenbacker, because I like Fugazi and SG's are a ballache.
Check out that checking!...
Never owned or played one before, but all the specs seem to tick boxes for me. I like a narrow fretboard/nut but a rounded profile. I like single coils, I like black, I like jangly chords. Not too sure how I feel about a lacquered fretboard but I've seen people often strip that off for a more familiar feel.
I negotiated a decent price for it, but it's still a pricey experiment.

Really similar looking shop in the background.
P.s. no one used a straight 330 in the Beatles, so you’re safe.

Yeah, I often think most shops just look the same inside these days. It's cheap and fast to slap a load of reclaimed timber on the walls - and it does look good.sal paradise wrote: ↑Fri Mar 17, 2023 2:05 amReally similar looking shop in the background.

Not hating on the Beatles too much, just not my thing and there were way better bands from that era...it's like people saying the Sex Pistols were the best punk band of the 70s just because they were the most popular. Guy from Fugazi, Viv Albertine from The Slits, Carrie Brownstein, Peter Buck, Mark Crozer, etc etc - much more an influence on this decision. Being a dude who mostly plays cowboy-chord jangly power-pop-punk it made a bit of sense to at least give it a go.

It looks awesome. I’ve always been Rick curious. But similar, price restricted any thoughts of trying one out to see.JSett wrote: ↑Fri Mar 17, 2023 2:29 amYeah, I often think most shops just look the same inside these days. I'm surprised to see a 360 instead of a 330, but they're basically the same with more bling, I hope you'll enjoy it ! I was contemplating saving for a walnut 330, but I don't really want to spend that much on something so specific.

I'd like a 330 for its sharper shape but I gotta have those triangle inlays so the 360 won out.
It's a bank holiday in Ireland on Monday so I'm guessing it'll arrive late next week. Totally uncharted territory for me on this one so I'm definitely excited.

Congrats and enjoy! Big Peter Buck fan, too. I had a Blueburst 360 years ago and wish I kept it.

Me: wants to replace the 1985 Rickenbacker 360 that I traded for a 1963 Jazzmaster. Ten years later I finally find one that I like and can afford.
Johnny: gets interested in Rickenbackers on a Wednesday, buys one on Friday.
That’s a good looking 360! Classic. The Rickenbacker purists don’t care for the Hi-Gains, but if you’re looking for Fugazi or REM tones then you’re fine. Don’t forget that the best Rickenbacker secret is to use the blend control (5th knob) with both pickups on!
