360 also has a bound fretboard while the 330 does not, which contributes a different left-hand feel in my opinion. Sure wish I could get along with either neck because nothing looks cooler than a Ric!

Lol, I've had residual GAS for one for a fairly long time but just never had the chance or inclination to go through with it. I do tend to move quickly though when something's in my head properlyfuzzjunkie wrote: ↑Fri Mar 17, 2023 8:35 amMe: wants to replace the 1985 Rickenbacker 360 that I traded for a 1963 Jazzmaster. Ten years later I finally find one that I like and can afford.
Johnny: gets interested in Rickenbackers on a Wednesday, buys one on Friday.
That’s a good looking 360! Classic. The Rickenbacker purists don’t care for the Hi-Gains, but if you’re looking for Fugazi or REM tones then you’re fine. Don’t forget that the best Rickenbacker secret is to use the blend control (5th knob) with both pickups on!

Congrats. Jetglo 360s are sweet.
I love the Beatles and am not ashamed of it, at least the drugged out later Beatles. Not a fan of their early boy band output, but their later stuff is fantastic, all of which was very original and unique at the time it was released.

Very cool, the black really suits the shape.
Ricks are something I've been curious about but never had a chance to try one so would be buying one on a gamble if I did. Probably still will one day.

This is definitely an (educated) gamble.
There's a few thing planned if it's a settler...probably a Mastery bridge, some cooker knobs and possibly a HB1 in the bridge if I get too much feedback at band volumes
We'll see

What year? I like the way it looks.
My only ric is a 90s Jetglo 330-12.
It's enough Ric for me, probably, but part of me kinda wants a 6 string model. I always thought the Susanna Hoffs model was cool, but apparently those are worth a lot of money now.

It's a relatively modern 2008 model. I couldn't venture into the vintage territory with the budget I'd allowed myself.

I've cranked the ric up to gig volume here at the house a couple of times now. The bridge pickup will feedback if you're standing right in front of the amp pointing the guitar at it, but otherwise it's pretty good. I've only heard bad things about the HB1's, but who knows. The hi-gains are surprisingly relatively quiet noise wise, which is cool. No louder than my Jag was.

I'm only casually thing about the HB1 as the option of a humbucker is tempting if noise is an issue. Apparently they're about 14k output though

I've had Mastery bridges on two Rickenbackers (including my current 330), and it's an improvement, but nowhere near as drastic a change as on a JM or Jaguar.
You can always take the octave strings off your 330-12 (and ignore the extra tuners).

Re: No, I don't like The Beatles...
That's a stunner, congrats on the beautiful guitar. I have come so close to buying a Ric on numerous occasions but when I've actually tried them the feel is so far away from what I'm used to that I just can't pull the trigger.
Embarrassingly (maybe?), watching Daniel Johns riff out The Greatest View on a 330/12 was one of the WOW moments for me as a teenager and I have lusted over owning a Ric since. Sadly I have never gelled with any of the 2nd hand ones I've tried with the aim of buying.
P.S I ADORE The Beatles and actually learnt guitar playing along to my Mum's records of theirs and so you should be proud to rock the Beatles look whilst gigging your Ric

Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate their songwriting ability and hooks but I never really gelled with their sound as a whole...mostly their singing voices. I don't doubt their contribution to musical history - I just prefer other music of that era

I'll try and avoid it unless I decide to pop on a vibrato, or if I jump saddles with heavy strummingcestlamort wrote: ↑Fri Mar 17, 2023 12:31 pmI've had Mastery bridges on two Rickenbackers (including my current 330), and it's an improvement, but nowhere near as drastic a change as on a JM or Jaguar.

I have found with my 360 and an AC-30 that it’s really easy to grab and control feedback.
And I’m not talking that annoying, screeching, runaway feedback, more like Daniel Ash or Andy Summers starting the song off with intentional correct pitch feedback or perhaps the bridge from Don’t Fear the Reaper. If you like that sort of thing.

If it's that controlled type then I'm definitely into it. I usually find a spot onstage where it is best to grab it and note the place for those times I want a note to ring through.fuzzjunkie wrote: ↑Fri Mar 17, 2023 1:11 pmI have found with my 360 and an AC-30 that it’s really easy to grab and control feedback.
