Are Explorers and Flying Vs acceptable or even cool?

For guitars of the straight waisted variety (or reverse offset).

I just can’t believe they were designed in the 50s.

I don’t remember seeing many 60s bands using explorers?
I believe somewhere around 50 total were produced in the initial run. They didn't really take off until much, much later.
Ah, that’ll be why!
I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

I really like the explorer shape. As a whole guitar the design is really well balanced and effective in its simplicity. I’d love one of the Lzzy Hale signatures, any of the three versions. Almost bought an explorerbird but there were shipping delays and i decided I don’t really need another solid body humbucker guitar. If I can find an epiphone I like the neck on I’ll be having it.

I had an Epiphone Korina V and from all the guitars I sold, this is the one I miss the most. :'(

What I like the most about these 50's style Vs and Explorers is that they look equally like a rock'n'roll machine and grandma's furniture... 🙃

I like the designs. Never played any of them myself, though.

The newest Lzzy Hale signature has got me wanting an Explorer BAD. Especially with the Firebird head. I'm kinda designing an Explorer for myself with a reverse Firebird head and Firebird pickups, as a nice hybrid between the things I like about Firebirds and Explorers. Who know if I'll ever make it :D

As for the original post/question, yes, always. Futuristic and unique guitars are always awesome in my book, and especially when they are used for genres that they aren't usually used for :-*

At this point both are classic designs that have been used by all kinds of artists.

Not guitars that appeal to me personally, but I have no issue with them.

Not a big fan of Vs, mostly because they are awkward to sit and play. I love Explorers. I don’t think I’d ever buy one, but I do like the design, especially the korina ones.

I should take the hint that my V hasn’t sold and keep it. It is fun and neat and pretty rad, I just have a lot of overlap.
A set of low wind imperials would slay in it.

I have wanted to grab a V for years. But I don’t see it as a V, it’s a flying A, for Anthony.
