For guitars of the straight waisted variety (or reverse offset).

I wish I could but I've no idea how to do that! It's beautiful though. 2014 and pretty much pristine!

Late to the party here (nice Ruby! That’s a beauty).

Rickenbackers are very much my “thing” and I’ve had a fair number of them over the years.

Since 1959, Rickenbackers have indeed used conversion varnish - a catalyzed two-part finish that is very durable and resists reaction with other surfaces, and it also rarely checks (it takes extreme temps to cause even minor checking on a Rick).

The only type of guitar stand that can cause issues is PVC/surgical tubing. Thankfully the type of cheap stands that had those are rarely seen these days, and more common types like rubber or neoprene do not interact with the finish. Just buy a decent stand and it will be fine.

Rickenbacker finishes do fade though, if exposed to direct UV light. It’s not as extreme today as some examples were in the 50s but fading can happen to some extent.

The pic posted above shows exactly what it looks like - beautiful! Thanks for the info on the finish. I hate the putty-soft nitro on my AV65 JM so I'm really pleased this isn't anything like that!
