Maybe some strap pads for the upside down case would make it a little more comfortable?
(All good until you forget and sit down).

have the straps aligned so the guitar hangs at an angle. then the neck is just to the side of you instead of straight behind.

My goal is to have it so that, from face-on, it looks like I'm wearing a regular backpack.

Upside down often does the trick

Reunion Blues Aero is my bag of choice, because it can fit in an overhead bin on every aircraft I've encountered (sometimes with a small amount of spatial reasoning, or very occasionally, persuasion)

I'd never heard of the Reunion Blues cases until my Coronado arrived in one (one of the 'Continental' ones). Those are pretty plush cases!
Silly Rabbit, don't you know scooped mids are for kids?

The aero is their “budget” model—considerably more basic, but also considerably smaller dimensionally!

Another update on my end re: my experience with these -

I got my hands on a D'Addario XPND small sized pedalboard to use with the Tick, as the Pedaltrain nano + I got didn't fit, too long by like 3 inches. Just based on dimensions, the XPND fits in the Tick, but once you've got pedals on it, the riser aspect makes it difficult to actually close the Tick. It's doable, but sort of depends on which way you stuff the pedalboard in, and how tall the pedals on each end of the board are. You definitely need to screw down the foot extensions on the board all the way to lower it as much as possible. I'd still recommend it as it's useful to be able to extend the length of the board on the fly, but this is the sort of thing that might work better if you just stuff the board in your gig bag's external pocket and carry pedals/cables/power supply in the Tick.

All of this is a bit obnoxious as the hope is to sort of show up to a gig and be ready to go, but this requires a bit more effort for a "portable" rig.

I carried my Pedaltrain PT-1 around NYC in the hard case like...8 times this week to rehearsal, work, and 2 gigs. Talk about exhausting. Especially with two guitars strapped to my back on gig days. I'm at the point where I might upgrade my board to get one of those rolling tour cases as that would make getting around so much easier and be less tiring. I forgot how much weight a pedalboard and a guitar in a hardshell case truly is, these rehearsal days made me miss owning a car to haul gear around.

You might consider what I do--have the soft case (bag) and the hard case for any pedalboards.

On a tour or a fly date, it goes in the hard case. For around town stuff (or lean Europe touring where I'm cramming it into my checked bag) I use the soft case.

I bought one of those shopping trolleys old ladies use for a trip to London where I had a lot to carry + a guitar. It had a nice owl-pattern bag, so I looked cool as fuck, which was a bonus.

Okay, so this thread has got me gassing for one of those double M80 ones, even though I never really expect to have to use it. Before I saw these I thought my Fort acoustic case was as good as it got.
