NGD Ric 360/12 !
I picked up a used 360/12 this last week. A dream guitar of mine! I’m a big fan of Roger McGuinn’s guitar playing, the Byrds, the Beatles, and the Beach Boys and the Ric just has the perfect sound.
The setup on this is crazy! It’s so low and comfy. I was a little worried about the narrow neck but I’ve found that while some things are a little trickier, most things things are easier to play. Kind of funny and relieving!
Anyway, I love this guitar. Here are some pics!

you're gonna enjoy that.
the setup is the hardest thing to get right on those, so it's a real win that it's already playing great.
one day you might get the urge to try toaster tops, and that might be worthwhile, but if it sounds good to you with the hi-gains there's probably no need to get the wandering eye for now

Nice score!
I've been dreaming of a Ric that I could bond with- didn't quite happen with the 620/12 that landed in my lap a while ago, but this post gives me hope that the 'right one' is out there somewhere!
Congrats, and thanks for posting!

Tasty. Byrds Another Dimension ep (outtakes from 5D) is a real personal favorite, lottsa 12 string raga/jazz in the folk-rock stew.

congratulations! A good Rickenbacker 360 is a great guitar. (And to echo Brad, set up can be tricky, but once it's there, it's golden).

Re: NGD Ric 360/12 !
Thanks very much! I used it a band rehearsal last night and it ruled pretty hard.
Anyone have a preferred capo for 12 strings? My Paige capo seemed to be acting funny at rehearsal. It wasn’t pulling all the strings down enough. Mostly the octave string on the low E

Capo, pshhh.
The answer, of course, is a 2nd 12-string, tuned for that song.
(and a 3rd for when you break a string during the heavy-jun-juns)
(and a 4th so you don't have to retune if you break a string on your non-backed-up tuning guitar...
Hi, guys. My name is John, and I'm a twelve-a-holic.

Re: NGD Ric 360/12 !
I tend to use an old d’addrio one with the thumbscrew. (The newer one I got as a backup was way less metal for better or worse)
Glad it’s working out!
Worth doing some taste tests with compressors too. (The janglebox is as advertised. I personally tend to like the Ibanez ones more; more than the diamond comp, at least on a 12– the diamond is great with a Jaguar though).

I realize this isn't feasible in a live setting and might be overly precious, but man...
a Ric 12 with flats recorded with a transformer direct box, compressed with an LA-2A after the mic pre is *that* sound

Re: NGD Ric 360/12 !
Very nice.
My first Rick was a 70s 325 that somebody had converted to a 12-string. I did the world a favour and converted it back.
My second 12-string is a Fender '66 XII.
My second Rick will be a 360WB. I love the bound top so much. It may even be in Autumnglo/Montezuma brown, such cool colours.
Ain't nothing like the real thing, baby!

Would doing a Ric 12 -> Colour Box -> some studio grade compressor pedal get you halfway there?

Re: NGD Ric 360/12 !
I’d have to try it to see!
I’ve never personally been enamored (enamoured?) of the concept of the colour box. The most interesting part of the sound of the Neve desk is the way the input and output transformers subtly saturate.
The cool thing about the LA2A as a compressor is that it’s optical, and has unique release characteristics as a result… and an outstanding sounding vacuum tube amplifier stage as well (and again, the transformer coloration from the UTC coils on either end).
Most of that would be missing in any pedal-based setup.
Not that it matters *that* much in the grand scheme… something to amplify and maybe something to squish is probably good enough to make music

That’s a beautiful burst on that 360! Congratulations! This is not helping my problem with intermittent RIc 12-string GAS! What amp are you playing it through with your band?

Nice score! Rics are some of my favorite designs. There is nothing like them.
