My wife and I decided to take a day trip up to Vermont today and while we were there I took a peek into a little music shop, and what did I find on the wall but an new Ibanez tenor guitar. I played it for a bit, because I've been interested in them for a while, being a fan of Neko Case and Joel Plaskett. My wife thought it sounded really good and asked how much it was, and it was a mere $199, so she said I should grab it. Who am I to say no?
Anyways, I've been playing it at home for a few hours and I have to say it's a lot of fun. I'm getting used to the chord shapes, as it's tuned in fifths, C-G-D-A, but it sounds really cool. All I had to do was change the strings, shave the saddle slightly (it could probably go a bit lower) and give the truss rod a quarter turn. For the short money that it costs I'd definitely say it's worth it.

Believe you me, I have no idea how to play it either, I've been fooling around with it this morning and found how to play major/minor bar chords and some open chords. Single note runs are a problem thusfar though, stupid fifths tuning...

You can tune it EADG, or even GCEA (like a soprano ukulele).

Nice. Tuned in 5ths means mandolin chord shapes will work.
