this is going to sound nasty but one of the many reasons i can't get into gibsons is the fucking colours. there's like 300 different bursts and they all look the same.
This. Every word of this.
Nah, that just means you guys can't pickup on the subtle differences that make a guitar stand out.
As an example, Mcsleazy has a few guitars that sort of have the same look/vibe. They would all look the same to the average person, but the people that know, can tell what the differences are.
Same concept here..

you tell lies. there's the black one with an ash body, the white one with an ash body, the black one with an alder body, the white one with the alder body and a red one.

That's not a lie, to the average person, your guitars would look quite similar.
Sunbursts even if you hate them all, they don't all look the same.
Its just that, some people can't pick up subtle differences..

i can kinda tell some of them apart but if you were to tell me all of them were different bursts, i'd call BS.
edit, i just realised that photo was the glasgow guitar guitar and the dude that works there is always asking why i'm not into gibsons.

if I ever want to take it back to “Boomer Burst” I can.
Fair enough, but this doesn’t strike me as a typical try-hard Blooze Lawyer LP. It’s simple and classy.

I can see differences but that doesn't mean any of them appeal to me. I just find that style of Gibson to be boring. It's all the same quilted/flame top/bursts. I really like the one in the OP though.

There are differences, but up there both of you guys said that they're the same and as mentioned, even if you hate sunbursts, you cannot say that they're all the same. Sure they might be ugly and uncool to you personally, but if you guys don't see the differences, its more on you than anything else.

All Les Paul bursts are hideous (see above), shell pink can't be anything other than a big improvement.

I'm all for the pink. LPs need more color variety!

Get it sprayed thin so you can still see some of that plain top grain.

I can definitely pick up on the subtle differences but this:

I like sunburst well enough, figured wood less so, but looking through that for something I like is fatiguing. I guess I'll take the black one.

Those pickups look nice, how do they sound? You use them before?
Bill Lawrence/Wilde Pickups is a well-respected small shop pickup manufacturer. They were an early (1970s?) entrant into the world of independent pickup manufacturing and have been trucking along since then making all sorts of cool pickups, but without boutique fanfare. (Note that this company is different from Bill Lawrence USA, which makes similar L500 pickups but is more of a major manufacturer and there's some long history of naming rights legal battles that I don't understand and seems silly).
The L500XL is a superhot humbucker that is very popular in metal (maybe most famously by Dimebag Darryl from Pantera, but Ace Frehly and Paul Stanley were using Bill Lawrence pickups in KISS, too).
The L500L, R, and C (in descending order of power) are less hot and are top-notch humbuckers when I've played them.
