Anyone have any homemade lap steel guitars? I'm gonna try to get around to mine this summer and am really curious what else is out there in the DIY realm.
My buddy made me cigarbox lap steel, so I made a fake ad for him! It’s a good little steel, but we’re still working on some structural stability issues
My main working steel is a Fender Stringmaster D8, tuned to A11 and C#m7

Wow! That's super cool!
The bridge looks interresting and is the pickup really just a few milimeters away from the bridge? How does it sound?

Thanks! Hmmm descriptive words for tone- the body's mostly cast aluminium, so bright and glassy would be good words. Quite full frequency response I'd say, and it really rings/ sustains. This thread and your comments actually made me replace the broken tone cap, so I can now say it really sweetens up with a bit of treble roll-off.

I picked up a Rogue brand one for $79 new. First experience with one, but was able to get some cool sounds from it. Probably won't be doing any leads, but it's been great for harmonizing & texture.

I've decided to build one with benders. So far I have... a fretboard sticker. But what the hell, it's a start.
This is an excellent rectangle
