Fender Acoustasonic Player Telecaster
This is one I have been waiting for. I know not everybody can afford the US Acoustasonic models, myself included, so I think this will be a big hit.

I'm far more likely to be looking at one of these than the USA versions. I think I would much prefer the offset body though, whenever that happens.
They get a lot of hate, especially on this board (a few locked threads!) but I think they have their place, and I'd use one if I had one.

$1200 is still a lot higher than I was expecting.

Re: Fender Acoustasonic Player Telecaster
I was sharply critical of the USA model, and not just on price -- I actually spent a good half hour trying one out, so my disdain for that guitar was based on how it performed, and my assessment of its fit and finish quality and sound quality.
Given the price adjustments that have come with the era of COVID-19, $1200 for this instrument seems reasonable to me. I can recognize that this guitar isn't for me but also see how it makes sense for the innumerable praise/church bands and other casual gigging situations that exist nowadays.
$1200 US is still a lot of money for me, but it's a lot less than the new price of two guitars of comparable quality, which was NOT the case for the USA model. Now it is in the same price range as the LTD and PRS SE guitars with piezos. So I can see why someone who needs both an acoustic sound and an electric sound to gig with, and is not all that particular about what acoustic sound they get as long as it sounds vaguely "acoustic," would choose it. And unlike the USA model, I don't think this looks clearly worse than the alternatives available for the same price.

I'll admit I'm rather jaded against MIM Fenders after the Player Jaguar I got was such a rotten lemon. Although if I read correctly these are coming out of a new factory, so maybe they will have some notion of quality control.
It would be interesting to see how they compare side by side with the USA models. Didn't they also gimp the electronics in these so it has less features than the USA model?

My experience with trying the Player Jaguar is similar to yours. However, I recently received a Charvel guitar from the same factory and it's completely fantastic, vying to be my #1. I have another MIM Fender (Alternate Reality XII) that impresses me as very well made. So if the Acoustasonic Tele can vie with those in terms of quality, then it'll be a good buy.tammyw wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 11:40 amI'll admit I'm rather jaded against MIM Fenders after the Player Jaguar I got was such a rotten lemon. If it's more like the Player Jags, then that's a different story.

It has 6 settings instead of 10, and uses a 9V battery. The only other difference is rosewood replaces ebony.

One thing I'm thrown by is their proud claim that you get "22 hours of playing time" out of one 9V battery.
Guys, my acoustic-electric guitar has had the same battery in it since 2015 and it still works...

Lol it’s like, “this kind of sucks, but we’re going to make you think it doesn’t” marketing. Kinda like lazboy chairs being super loud and them calling it the “sound of comfort”. No, it’s just a obnoxiously loud reclining mechanismbessieboporbach wrote: ↑Mon Nov 22, 2021 6:58 amOne thing I'm thrown by is their proud claim that you get "22 hours of playing time" out of one 9V battery.
