Just landed this morning. I think I might have snagged the last one in the UK as it took a fair while to find one actually in stock rather than being just advertised as so to lure in customers (I'm looking at you, GAK)

I haven't bought an expensive-ish guitar new for quite some time so it's an unusual experience. It's spotless from what I can tell.

Initial thoughts from the 1/2hr I've just played it as I'm working from home today and don't have a lot of spare time... Neck profile is a decent size, nice and chunky without being too broad in the shoulders. It feels very similar to my 67 Jag but with a slighty flatter back to it. Thumb-over notes are easy enough. Frets are the much-maligned 'vintage tall' and, to be honest, I don't mind them so far. They feel huge compared to all my other guitars as they all have vintage sized (and in various states of wear) but not nearly as obnoxious as jumbo frets though. Radius is, as expected, barely noticeable from the 7.25" I'm used to either. Even after 25+ years of playing I'm not that refined a guitarist so I doubt I'll even notice much. It's only if I pick up something like a Gibson that my hands get angry. It's nice and light too... But I am accustomed to Jazzmasters and Jaguars so any guitar feels light in comparison.

Pickups sound like a Telecaster. I've not got enough experience to make any qualified analysis of this aspect. They sound clear and bright and nicely balanced to my ears.

The shop I bought it from (Bonners down in Eastbourne, UK - a small independent) offered to set it up for me with my strings of choice so it came loaded with 11-52s which feel great.

Hopefully this will be a keeper. I've never found a Tele I could really 'make friends' with but I'm determined to broaden my horizons.

Anyway, there you go.

Congrats, that's really nice. I've never really been able to bond with a Tele either but I'm clearly not trying hard enough. Good luck!

Teles aren't for me but I can always appreciate BMM, and it looks great on a double-bound body! :)

Follow up thoughts:

1) Really tough on the forearm having no contours :D
2) The ashtray bridge really is a bad design, gets in the way of the picking hand no end. That's being swapped out for a cutback.
3) Speaking of bad design...the jack output cup instantly annoyed me by not accepting an angled jack. I have ordered an Electrosocket.

Sounds great though, finally gave it a good thrashing through my home setup and its wildly different from all my offsets. I don't think I'll ever convert but it'll be nice to have to mix things up a little - there's an extra 'immediacy' to the sound compared to what I am used to.

That colour works so well on a tele, just gorgeous. Hope it plays as good as it looks.

#2 is just a technique issue. Those bridges have never bothered me.

I agree. They are fantastic sitting guitars though.

Oh, for sure... I know hundreds of thousands of people get/got on with them just fine. I probably could teach myself to get over it but I'd rather just relax and enjoy playing it

no worries at all, I guess I just was objecting to blaming the design. Leave Leo alone!

Oh, I still think it's flawed. Just because "hundreds of thousands of people" have got over said flaws doesn't mean they don't exist.
Leo made plenty of mistakes, we all know that.

Exactly. The ashtray is definitely bad design. It accomplishes nothing and annoys some players -- how can that not be flawed?
