Thanks for the info! We’re gonna call around and see if we can’t find a store that has one or both. I think both are great options.

Here is an ASAT III and ASAT (both pre-BBE). I have too many to post so if you want to see many (many) more G&Ls, please check out https://ggjaguar.com/gnl.htm.

Amazing collection. I’d love to get my hands on one of those early Skyhawks.GGJaguar wrote: ↑Sun Feb 27, 2022 8:54 amHere is an ASAT III and ASAT (both pre-BBE). I have too many to post so if you want to see many (many) more G&Ls, please check out https://ggjaguar.com/gnl.htm.

Wow. I have one from the same era. I've got to get it fixed. Best bass I have ever owned. I love the nice, wide nut on there.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

This is my dream bass, although some of the old ones can be pretty heavy.
The reissues seem perfect except for the damn nut width. It’s frustrating.
I wish the Fallout would work for me, but I really want long scale, and the Kiloton is just fugly and I want “sweet spot” pickup placement, dammit.

You know, I almost bought one of the reissues, but was turned off by the narrow nut. Then I turned around and bought a Thunderbird so go figure.marqueemoon wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 10:38 am

But honestly what kept me from buying it is because when my Wunkay went down I bought an SB-1, which frankly is as good an instrument as anything, except it does not have the OMG mode that the Wunkays have.
Then I did consider a Kiloton, because I sold my L-1500, and I do think the Kiloton looks sharp.
Same body as the SB series, though, so if you don't like that you won't like the SB-1. But they are very good basses. So are the SB-2s.

I have softened my position on active circuitry recently because an “always on” boost has become an essential part of my bass setup.
I played a Stingray the other day for the first time in a while and liked it a lot more than I expected. Still, I much prefer a single pickup in the “sweet spot”.
I’ll continue to play my battered MIJ P until the right thing comes along, which might be never.

You know, I've given up on it. I had a Stingray, played like a dream, frankly it played so well I can't believe it.marqueemoon wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 12:39 pm

It was noisy.
I had that G&L L-1500, which is kind of their answer to the Stingray. It was noisy.
I think I'm a passive bass man now.

I prefer the simplicity of passive. Other than maybe rolling back a small amount of treble for songs I play with a pick I can’t picture touching an active eq on a bass.Larry Mal wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 1:04 pmYou know, I've given up on it. The pre-amp on my L2000 just kinda gives a presence boost, I didn't think I'd like it, but I actually really enjoy it.marqueemoon wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 1:33 pmI prefer the simplicity of passive. Don’t own a G&L (never have), but when did they switch from the Fender-esque headstock design to the nipple headstock design? Or does it depend on the model? Just curious.
