It's one awesome guitar, and I feel quite fortunate to have picked it up brand new, some years ago, for $1300! The quality and the tone is phenomenal for any price, but man are these G&L's economical. I play JM's, a Tele, a Black Falcon, and a P90 and a PAF Les Paul, and the Doheny definitely has its own thing going.
I could get this Doheny to sound like a JM'ish sort of thing but with quite a bit of Hi Fi Filtertron thrown in. I can get a wicked growly chime out of those MFD pickups that is super cool and pretty unique, that I don't really get from my other guitars. The G&L two point tremolo is the best there is too in my opinion when it comes to two point Strat style tremolos.
