First things first…
I must have missed the memo on these when they were released, but stumbled across one when an ES-339 Pro P90 I was watching sold on Reverb. That one was blue (they call it “denim” and… let’s just say it’s no Pelham Blue). Then I saw the Ebony, which made me feel things. And then the Olive… and it was all over.
I read about them. I watched video reviews. I did all the stuff you do. This one popped up for a “too good to pass up” deal so I decided to give it a whirl.
First impressions: I really like it. I haven’t had a hollowbody since the late 90s (an Epiphone ES-335). It sounds good unplugged. The “worn” finish is really well done - the grain comes through nicely - as is the binding.
Played it briefly through my 5E3 clone head and remembered why I love hollowbodies. The pickups are… fine. I’ll probably upgrade them if I end up keeping it, which will give me an excuse to put on a black pickguard.
I’ll update after I’ve had more play time with it, if anyone cares…

Yep, that's stunning. Nice one!

Obviously love the type of guitar, I just don't get the "olive drab "
Sorry ... for me the only thing that looks good in olive drab is a JU 52

Re: NGD: Epiphone Casino Worn Olive Drab
What is the neck profile like on this?
I have a recent MIC standard one with the almost Ibanez-like razor thin D shape. It kinda bothered me at the beginning but I’m they type that just rolls with it and sure enough it’s comfy as hell to me now.
I’m also perfectly happy with the stock P90s, but again I’m probably in the minority here in that I don’t get hung up on small things with guitars I like, I just let them be the way they want to be and learn to dance with them you know?

What a great guitar!
Casinos are awesome in general, and these worn-finish options are some of the best bang-for-buck options in new guitars.

Haha fair enough... I'm not into it for any military fetishistic reason - I won't be putting any white stars or bomber girls on it - but I like the uniqueness, I guess... I also really like the "antique olive" finish that Fender put the Jaguar out in a while back...sookwinder wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 4:10 amObviously love the type of guitar, I just don't get the "olive drab "

I'm notoriously bad at 1) being able to feel different neck profiles and 2) then describing them but I wouldn't say it's thin like an Ibanez shredder. Thinner than your standard Fender neck... very much like my Gibson SG Standard.Dave wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 4:46 amWhat is the neck profile like on this?

And yeah, I'm not dying to replace the pickups... the more I play them the more I like them. They're a little hotter than I'm used to, but maybe that's a good thing. Variation and all that haha...
