NGD: Squier Esquire Custom

Post by Pacafeliz » Thu Sep 09, 2021 9:39 am

...had a couple good guitar sales (see the irony already?) so when I saw the PayPal offer for the 12 months with no interest, fuck well something happened. :fp:

So I've bought 3 (or 4) new Squiers this year so far, FML

BUT I'M LOVING IT
It's beautiful, but I gotta put decent strings on it ASAP

This current round of Squier Esquires is really great. They all look lovely, that black w/binding being particularly cool, and under that pickguard is, I think, an unrouted body.
I've often thought that adding a B16 to one of these could produce a near-perfect guitar.

Squire is on a helluva run the last couple of years. If you told me 5 years ago that most of the FMIC releases I'd be gasing for would be squires I wouldn't have believed you.

Esquires kick arse and yours looks great. Big strings, back position, and Cortez the Killer would be my formula if I got one.

Oiled the fretboard, put 10ers on. This thing plays delicious, but now I'm considering changing the pickup for some sorta hot rail, so I could have a single/humbucker option. Shouldn't be too hard, right...? :-/

I always promised myself that if I ever got an Esquire I'd try and put a Joe Barden Modern T in the bridge. They're like a fat, really middy blackguard pickup that's hum canceling but still tele voiced. I have their standard one in my tele and it has a great grind to it.

Definitely adds versatility but I'd probably opt for a tapped single coil for some extra punch. Been dying to try some Cavalier tele pickup combos. Regardless, you got a beaut!

Stay tuned!

Damn, too late to suggest a stacked Fralin or Lollar.

This sounds like the ideal Esquire pickup.
