NGD: 1989 Greco Les Paul

Post by Maggieo » Wed Aug 25, 2021 4:50 pm

I was farting around at Lidgett's Music when I saw this honeyburst LP on the wall. I picked it up, put my ear next to it's surprisingly light body, strummed a Gmaj chord and was awed by the glorious vibrations. Had to have it. So, say goodbye to the Rivolta Combinata XVII and hello 1989 Greco Les Paul '59 plain top, with magnetically reversed pickups to nail the rest of the Peter Green vibe!

Nitro, long tenon neck, the works. These Japanese LPs are one hell of a bargain.

Better than Gibson in that era, for sure!

I knew very little about them, until Rob, the guy at Lidgett's, brought me up to speed.

It's funny- Rob said that he knew I'd find that Greco.

1989
A number
Another summer
Sssssssound of the funky drummer.

That's real nice. An '89 Greco will happen someday for me too. Someday. Well made Japanese lawsuit gibsons have always done it for me. I think it was seeing The Black Keys (pre Ford Commercial Era) party a 3 HB SG on TV, then learning it was actually an Ibanez. It's something that's really cool at a glance, but even cooler when you look close.

With all this attention to detail, I wonder what the better guitar was, this Greco, or Slash's Rist guitar.
If it wasn't for disappointment, I wouldn't have any appointments.

That's nice. The hardware is aged nicely. I frequently prefer a nice plain top to flame.
