For guitars of the straight waisted variety (or reverse offset).

I used to be obsessed with Firebirds until I played one. They're pretty bloody uncomfortable to hold and have the opposite of a forearm contour. :D

Mine just arrived a few days ago, I haven't found them uncomfortable at all. Granted, it's a bit of a reach to tune them, but not any worse than a baritone. The only odd thing i've noticed is that ordinarily, I pick and strum between the neck and the neck pickup; with the Firebird, my hand automatically falls to the bridge. Oddly enough, I don't mind how this sounds- on most guitars, I find the sound of picking at the bridge to be too shrill, but this sounds great.

Maybe it's because I'm tall and lanky and more used to basses, but I find the Firebird shape quite comfortable. I find my wrist sits nicely at the waist, with the opposite-of-a-forearm-contour acting to counterbalance the rest of the guitar. Mind you, my bandmate used to have an RD, and that was even more comfortable (because it did have a forearm contour on the opposite-of-a-forearm-contour bit).

yep. I'm 6'8"/203cm tall. Apart from my baritones, I don't have a guitar that fits me better. I don't know how it took me 38 years to play one, but here we are.

Hey guys, what a great thread! Unfortunately, I do not have any close friends who share my passion for music, so discussing with fellow guitarists is an incredible pleasure. Sure, I have been obsessed with musical instruments several times. However, I'd say that the white Strat I saw in a shop nearby a couple of years ago comes to mind first. I had a period when I was obsessed with John Frusciante's work, so the obsession's root is obvious. I also bumped into some incredible Guitars while surfing online, but I'm waiting for the right moment before being able to splash the cash. Cheers!

All the time. This basically fuels guitar forums on the internet. The problem I run into now though is already having a bunch of awesome guitars I love and having limited space in my Brooklyn apartment to justify more.

Recently it occurred to me that I HAVE to acquire a Les Paul Junior. I want one of the new ones with the opaque, yellow 'burst. I already have two other Gibsons with p90s in the bridge, but I just can't shake this one off  I'm currently saving my pennies for one. Hopefully by the end of the year I'll be able to make it my own.

I've really wanted a good Mustang for a long time now... have thought about replacing my Strat with a Cyclone several times...
I look at pictures of them so often and guiltily, you'd think it was porn.
It haunts me. Might have to make it happen after I finish building my Jaguar...

I was in a good place with my guitars for years, until I started thinking about a second, smaller bodied acoustic. That became an itch I couldn't seem to scratch, watching countless vintage Gibson LG videos & realising how expensive they'd become. Even more so over here in Germany.
Fortunately my thoughts shifted to other makers, then tuned in on Guild (a brand I'm very fond of) and finally settled on finding a newer, Chinese made model. I really did dodge a bullet in the end & am still very happy with how things turned out.

I get this extremely regularly. And I usually act on it very fast.

The trouble is that 'it' passes just as quickly as it arrives. I have guitar ADD. I need to close my Reverb account really

These days I just tend to ride out the feeling until it passes. I have managed to avoid getting a Yamaha SG2 despite regularly getting gas attacks whenever a cool build/restoration thread comes up.

Every once in a while I can't escape the GAS. Hence me reacquiring a Bass VI after watching that Beatles doc. :jacked:
