Would you pay £1500 for a used Hohner from the 80s?

I remember these well from when they were new (I had a cheaper Hohner Arbor Strat copy) - they were fairly decent guitars, but apart from the Prince connection, nothing extraordinary. I daresay it will sell....

Nope. Not even for $1500AUD which is less than half the £1500 asking.

A "no" from me as well...although I own a Hohner "SG Lion" from the 90s that is very nice indeed.

But even that one is nowhere near even £500, in my view.

But it will impart all of Prince’s guitar talent. It’s a bargain really.

I don't really understand the confusion. It looks to be the going rate and it's a higher end guitar they made with artist association.

Hohner aren't a guitar manufacturer like Fender or Gibson, they've made harmonicas, keyboards etc and commissioned outside companies to do their guitars as far as I know, so the chances are these weren't even made in the same factory as the mediocre strat copies etc of the same era

Agreed. That's in the market for list-price for a "The Prinz" model - especially this earlier era with a Fender tele headstock (it was later changed to a slightly more angular and beveled style).

I've played one and it was a fine telecaster copy. I think someone with better skill and experience could comment on its neck shape or something, but it felt like a high quality Fender to me.

As to whether I'd pay that amount of money... I wouldn't pay that amount for any guitar, because its not in my budget, but I could see that price being right for tele fans and Prince fans and guitar collectors.

And, for real, I'm not a skilled guitar player at all and don't obsesses over technique (check out my sig), but the last 3 minutes of this video are stunning! Prince was a musician's musician who is a worthy guitar idol for anyone - all the way to buying the same guitar.

I have one of those and it's a fantastic quality guitar.
I will be selling it and will be very happy if someone gives me €1000-1200 for it.
It may be hype, but for a good reason - it's very nice and good guitars.

In a few years, someone will create a thread regretting not having bought one for £1500

Glad it sold well! I'm completely sure that it is a great guitar, I still have my cheap Hohner Strat copy (my son uses it), and it plays great - Hohner QC seemed pretty good. But it does seem funny though that 80s (Korean?) guitars are selling for more than 1970s American ones ($900 for a Music Man StingRay II on another thread), but that's the power of Prince!
