Wireless - cut the cable.
I just bought one of these cheaper 5.8 Ghz wireless transmitter / receiver made by a brand named Ammoon. I gotta say it's nice to not have to worry about cables. Rolling around in my playing chair with all the freedom in the world of an american bald eagle. Im happy.
I was looking at the boss and the line 6, but ended up settling for these cheaper ones. I dont perceive the sound to be too different, nor any noticeable lag.
I can get used to playing like this. I think im going to cut the cable for a while, if not permanently.

Curious to hear how long the battery lasts. Love the idea.

I played about 2 hours last night. There's still some charge left. I guess just like any other lithium battery, it will hold less and less charge as time passes by.
But so far, im happy i dont have to deal or look at the long cable it replaced.

I think my only concern (if you can even really call it that) is that if I'm putting it on a pedalboard, I'd want something that can double as a tuner just so it's a bit more compact.
I don't have a pedalboard right now, so like I said, barely a concern at all.
When some outstanding financial commitments are covered, I'm probably jumping on that Shure wireless where the RX is a tuner too.

I've been using wireless for many years. I wouldn't go back. I recently added the Boss WAZA-AIR headphones to my set-up. They're brilliant for quiet practice at night (a necessity now that I have a child).

This one is going back. Cuts out too much. I wonder if i should get the 2.4 ghz instead as my wifi is using the 5.8 ghz frequency...
Wasn't happening before but today while playing along with YouTube videos being played from my phone, it did and quite a few times.

Have you tried all its channels ? I find mine (cheap but different model) works fine on one or two channels but not the others. It still cuts out very rarely on the channel that works well (seemingly for line-of-sight issues ?). Since I paid about $40 I reckon that's a fair deal. I only use it for couch playing. Works really well for that.
While each frequency band (2.4 ghz vs 5.8 vs others) has advantages and disadvantages, you'd need at least a network analyser to determine if other traffic in your environment is causing problems on particular channels. There's traffic from all bands in most place these days.
I have set mine up to optimize charging. The receiver stays permanently ON/plugged into a 5v USB wall charger. As almost all inexpensive wireless systems use micro USB connectors, that's a weak point. I've had several phone/tablet devices still working fine when charged, but I couldn't charge them anymore because the connector wore out. So the wireless transmitter has a 5cm micro-to-full size USB female adaptor cable permanently attached, to avoid micro USB connect-disconnect cycles. My guitar rack has the full size USB charge cable (also from the 2-way wall charger) sitting there waiting to be plugged in to recharge the transmitter (without removing it from the guitar) after every session.

I have used a NADY wireless system for a long time.....I retired it, but it was rock solid and I could get my Angus on.

Re: Wireless - cut the cable.
So, I decided to keep. I had tried switching channels and it was still doing it. But I also got a new phone last week because my old one didn't have Google apps and it was a pain not being able to run a lot of needed apps. It seems like my old phone was the culprit.timtam wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 6:38 pmHave you tried all its channels ?
