Everything that is not a locking tuner is just wrong. Closed back, open back, I don't care. As long as it's a locking tuner.

Yep.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

Thirded. I get "vintage-accurate" when it's a reissue or a vintage axe, but for anything else? They're just better.

I have locking tuners on twelve acoustics.

I think the Waverlys use the Kluson footprint, don't they? I would go to Stew-Mac and check the measurements, but that's what I believe.papa_hotel_delta wrote: ↑Sun Jan 03, 2021 2:45 pmwhich ones? (tuners)
I would change the Waverlys on the Martin tomorrow if I didn't have to drill a hole.
Double check that, though.

Re: The strange and perverse fetish of open-back tuners
Almost all modern replacement open-back tuners have mount holes situated around 25.5mm apart from each other. I seem to remember reading that older Klusons have a narrower distance.Larry Mal wrote: ↑Sun Jan 03, 2021 2:57 pmI think the Waverlys use the Kluson footprint, don't they? The backplate on Klusons are a slightly different shape though so, if your Waverleys leave a tan line, it'll show, slightly.
Also, make sure you check the inner diameter of the tuner bushings that are on your Martin. If they don't match, or are narrower than Klusons, you'll need to make a change. Then, you'll have to check the outer diameter too.
You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

Re: The strange and perverse fetish of open-back tuners
This might help, although the Klusons in the diagram aren't the new "Prestige" line...
I have the "Prestige" ones so can give you any other measurements, if you need them.
