I am considering giving this one a facelift and turn it into my Christmas present. I'm suffering from a lack of gas or really a desire to buy anything else for that matter. So I was thinking, I have just enough time to give this little guy a makeover. It plays and sounds great, but I cant't stand that cop cruiser aesthetics of it. I have enough time to refinish it, give it some curing time, wet sand, polish and shine everything up just in time for Christmas. I could get a WD pickguard in some other color, change knobs, pickup covers...
I was thinking perhaps go for one of the Fender classic looks (like aged white with ming guard), or just go crazy with an all original look.
What would you do if you were in my my shoes?

Either Fiesta Red with a mint guard or some kind of Seafoam-something with parchment IMO would look really sweet if you wanna take it down more of a Fender route, but I'd personally do some kind of transparent cherry red and swap out the wraparound for a ToM and trapeze -- keeps it pretty Gibson but gives it some JM kinda vibes with the trapeze and some SG Special vibes with the cherry/big black pg & P90s.

I almost put an order for a mint guard a couple of days, I might still do that. Mint green goes so well with most of the Fender color schemes, especially with Fiesta Red. Seafoam + area, is also so good! I'm going to have so research more the ToM and trapeze - I like this a lot! Thanks!
I like that Special a lot, but I have one in the same TV Yellow, but a DC that is starting to age quite well, I thing it's a 2003.

I vote keep the hardware and go for a pastel color

Several years ago I got obsessed with this Tahitian Coral + a nice mint green guard + dark rw board, but not on a Strat. The fingerboard on that Melody Maker id actually baked maple, but fairly dark for what it is.Singlebladepickup wrote: ↑Fri Dec 04, 2020 7:02 pmI vote keep the hardware and go for a pastel color
