O aka @otisserie on Instagram has all the scoop and he confirmed back in 2019 that it was going to be MIM. Along with the Road Worn specs I'm confident that it is.
Also I sent this to a Dino buddy of mine down under and he didn't bat an eye at the price so I guess that's also a sign that it is in Australian dollars.

To help you calibrate to our crazy Australian prices, here are a few randomly selected examples. So yeah, the Mascis price is fairly consistent with other MIM models.
Made in Japan Traditional 60s Telecaster RRP $1899
Vintera Jazzmaster RRP $2299
American Performer Telecaster RRP $2399
Cobain Jaguar RRP $2599
American Original 60s Telecaster RRP $3899
American Original 60s Jazzmaster RRP $3999

Here's his original today. From Vintage Guitar. Sorry for the bad pic.

Friend down under spoke with his local dealer and could confirm that that is the Australian pricing.

Glad Fender are doing a Mascis Tele finally but road Worn.... I can't stand it, it's like fake tan for guitars....

Here it is (kinda) at an Australian dealer for $2129 AUD.

re: the roadworn thing - I'm also not a huge fan, although it tends to look a bit less ghastly on recent signature guitars than it did on, for example, that Joe Strummer Tele from a few years back. The copy in the ad posted above sort of makes it sound like only the neck is roadworn, though - which fits the "old guitar refinished in the 90s" vibe of the original.

Was interested until I saw the MSRP (and calculated what that would be in CDN) and MIM.
It would have to sound and play downright amazing for me to spend that on this guitar. I hope J doesn't become the Slash of the indie rock guitar set.

I'm interested in playing one of these when they're available. I don't have a Tele and have never played a toploader. I'm assuming that's a different kind of thing than the string-through guitars.

That's not a straightforward/linear conversion due to 'Fender Australia' being involved in pricing for the Australian market.
I'd suggest you could remove 30% - 45% off the price as part of your calculations.

I'm guessing they reused their copy from the Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster and forgot to swap out that bit of info
