Do all green guitars look bad? Good examples?

For guitars of the straight waisted variety (or reverse offset).

Do all green guitars look bad? Good examples?

Post by King Volcano » Sun Mar 18, 2018 1:04 pm

I was just thinking about Johnny Marr's green Telecaster trying to decide if it was cool or just ugly. I love the color green, but it doesn't seem like you ever seen it on guitars. Is it just that we are not used to it or does it just mostly look bad and that's why you don't see it? The only companies that seemed to make green guitars were Burns and the Japanese companies like Teisco etc. Examples:

Green burst is ugly IMO but a regular green finish can be extremely cool. Gretsch's Cadillac Green is a good example.

Plus there's Gibson's Inverness Green and ridiculously rare Kerry Green finishes, along with Fender's Surf Green, Seafoam Green, Sherwood Green etc etc.

I am building this Bison inspired thing. I was first not sold on the idea when the customer requested a green guitar with tortoise pickguards, but I absolutely love it now.

dark green with a black guard (like a TMJm) is my favorite

i'm not super keen on that pickguard...but that bass is nice!
If I was a byrd, I'd be mighty sore every time they shut the door and I don't think I'd sing...

Ugly green guitars like marr's tele are the exception, not the rule. His green jaguar is amazing, as is the British racing green rickenbacker bass I posted in the GAS thread. Lots of awesome green shades from surf, to olive, sage, ice (mjt), and Sherwood

I must be the only one who doesn't like sherwood green. It's too blue, and looks like a color that belongs on a shitbox 90s economy sedan like a neon or something.

Now, Cadillac green, on the other hand... THAT'S a nice green. Put me down as another one in favor of it. Squirrel knows what's up. Dig this lovely Fano:

I've always wanted a guitar in flat olive green with cream binding and pickguard. Something like this color combo:

I also really like this guitar (which I think someone here put together) and I find myself starring at the buy button on reverb too often, but I need another guitar like I need a hole in my head.
