I’ve posted this before, but here are a few of mine. I do love this photo!

Tommy.
Cool collection. Did you shine up that casino a little bit?

Thanks! Yeah I buffed it up with Meiguars Scratch X when I replaced all the hardware. It’s just one of the cheap ones, sounds great (though needs a new switch).

Tommy.

This is my pinkie Les Paul. In addition to coil splits it has phase switching.

yeah Gibson really likes throwing a phase switch on their push pulls, I like splitting the bridge pickup and putting in it out of phase it makes notes kinda sound chewy almost I don't know how to properly describe it. Real nasty tone though not exactly sure how it would be used.

I didn't realize phase was that common on Gibsons, most of mine don't have it.

Even without a phase switch, everyone should have a cherry SG special.

Here's mine, a 1989 LP Jr.
This one was a special order with ebony f/board, pearl inlay logo and Grovers. I've owned it since 1996 and love it to the moon and back.

That’s so cool. I really with Gibson would bring the DC Junior back to the USA line. They’re my favourite solid body Gibson design, and I think the only options are 50s, 80s, custom shop, or the Billie Joe Armstrong signature.

This is a 120th anniversary SG Special, I thought the color was supposed to be walnut but it's rather light and golden, but it's a good color for me. Maple neck and twenty four frets. Out of all the SG Specials this would be my top pick.

I have this suspicion that Tammy actually has an infinite guitar collection, but is slow rolling the posts so as not to give away the secret

So many sweet Gibsons in this thread. Here's my modest contribution:

I am also only sporting a pair in my collection but maybe one day I'll add some more. Would be nice to have a Firebird!

Used to have a few more (Epi 339, Gibson Flying V), but I've pared it down to just these two.

The Gibson is a 1984 Designer Series Explorer that I bought a few years ago. I've been a Hetfield fanboy since the '90s and desperately wanted one of his Gibson or ESP alpine white Explorers, but those were well beyond the reach of a teenager. As I got older, I watched as they continued to increase in value until even as an adult with an adult-sized bank account, I couldn't justify the prices ($17k for an ESP...really?)

Then I saw this guy in a Music Go Round for $1500. I was somewhat suspicious of the cheap price, but they said it had been reduced because no one seemed to want it. It included the original case and was completely untouched. It wasn't strictly alpine white, and it had a Kahler, but I fell in love. The original Dirty Fingers pickups! The rare (for a Gibson) matching headstock! I had to have it. I tried to like the Kahler but as soon as I found that a stoptail and TOM were drop-in replacements, I went for it. I don't mind the big, ugly Kalher route. Gives it character.

The Epiphone is a 1998 Korina Explorer that I purchased new. It was my first "real" guitar, in that my actual first guitar was a crappy Samick Strat ripoff that played terribly and sounded worse. I saved up every dollar I got for birthdays, chores, etc. until I could plunk down the $450 on the Explorer. It's one of the MIK Epiphones made in the Unsung plant, which are well-regarded for their quality. That reputation is well-deserved; it plays beautifully. I've never owned a Gibson that plays as well as that Epiphone does.

It's been through a lot of changes over the years, but in 2015 or so it settled into the form you see now, which is replaced pickguard (factory was off-white), replaced bridge, replaced tuners (Grover locking mini-rotos circa 2004) and EMG Het Set pickups with two volumes and three-way switch. This is one of my "save it from a fire" guitars.

Anyone got a take on a guitar from Gibson demo shop vs a new model?

The demo model has a few marks but they look minimal in the photos. It’s £100 less than a new model via an online retailer, who I imagine ship the guitar box unopened.

Would the demo guitar have gotten a decent setup at the start of its life, or by Gibson when they list them on the reverb shop?
