I have one Strat, and it has inexpensive GFS Surf 90s and a matched headstock to make it bearable.
My condolences for your situation, we all have them.

When i think of Strats, i think single coils..
When i think LPs i think humbuckers
Firebirds, mini humbuckers... And so on...
A Strat shaped guitar with humbuckers is not a Strat.. A Les Paul with single coils is not a Les Paul and so on... To me at least... YMMV.

First Les Paul's came with single coils..

Maybe, but the iconic version of the Les Paul is not the one with single coils.

Maybe not to you!
I'd say Gibson got it right somehwere in the early 50's.

I love offsets and I love them more and more each year but my favorite guitar is a Strat. I started out not liking Strats but then something happened. I really think Leo perfected the electric guitar with the Strat.

I sold the Strat I played through my university years. 1991 or 1992 Strat plus that I modded a bunch.
Of course now that it’s gone I miss having a Strat around. I never was able to bond with Teles, but I will always have a soft spot for Srats.

I would always buy and sell strats, it's seemed like every 4-5 years i'd get the urge., buy one, play it a bit and move it.
Just before Christmas, I picked up this guy:
7.3 pounds... this one might stick around
