Gretsch Jack Antonoff signature
Interesting. Don’t know much about the guy other than he’s a big deal now (back in my day fun. were just another absolutepunk.net buzz band)
I think it looks pretty tasteful, but also a bit… obvious? In a ‘for those who want an offset but are too unique to just buy an offset” kinda way

There’s a little bit of Astro Jet in that which is cool, but it misses for me.

Its a Gretsch Corvette (well, the colorway is more like a Gretsch Princess but same/same) with a JM-style vibrato, that's pretty fun but looks a bit like an amateur mashup. I wonder what kind of trem it is ? Gretsch is owned by Fender these days but obviously they couldnt release a guitar with Fender-branded hardware.

I wish they just did a Princess reissue but this is kind of cool.

I don't hate it, it's weird seeing a Gretsch with that vibrato assembly though.

I dig it.
Although the bridge rout looks weird, maybe it's the odd angle of the pickup making the shadow off (or it's drooping through it's own weight).

I'm into it. I've never gotten into them, but Bleachers are massive these days, right? I remember Springsteen has sung on on of their albums.
Fun had some excellent songs. And of course always ends in a Format listening session. Does that make me really old now?

I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

I think it's just the reflection in the metallic pickup cover.
Also: an unbranded trem with lock, you don't see those very often in this pricerange.

If this is less than £600, it is a massive vibe!

A different colour scheme and a pickup swap and I could see myself really loving this.

I'm into it. Here's a clip from Jimmy Kimmel Live where his lead guitarist is using it while Jack is playing what looks to be a Gretsch Princess. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vj1EcJJLjI. Here's a clip from Coachella - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-b9D3TVmssI
I love my Gretsch FSR CVT (MIC) - nice chunky neck. I took out the stock Blacktop Filter'Trons and had some TV Jones T-Armonds (single-coil) pickups but then put in some Gretsch Filter'Trons (and butchered the beejeebus outta the body to my eternal regret). It's my go-to beater guitar when I want to get my punk on.
Here it is today with my '63 Fender Bandmaster, which I put back in its original head shell and bought a Mojotone 2x12 cab to match it. Now I have to figure out what to do with my custom brown head and 2x12 cab (I may move my '62 Bandmaster into it if I ever want to move it from its custom 2x10 combo cab someday).
I'd seriously consider this Gretsch JA Sig for CVT-variant for its P90s. Curious as to what the various controls do.

Re: Gretsch Jack Antonoff signature
I'm actually kinda disappointed that the guitar doesn't have a Gretschy pickup of some sort. The Gretsch P90s are supposed to be a little different than the standard fair (a little brighter/janglier) but for a guitar that's already basically a set-neck Jaguar-ish (it is shorter scale, right?) with a modified body shape I would've loved to have some Filtertrons, HiLoTrons, or Dynasonics in it. But it is a signature model, so I get that.
Maybe this is why I can't get them from AllParts right now and the price went up 50%...Steadyriot. wrote: ↑Wed Oct 02, 2024 12:55 amAlso: an unbranded trem with lock, you don't see those very often in this pricerange.

It seems from the specs that this is a bolt-on 25.5” setup.

Duh... LOL Sorry, my day job distracted me. LOL Looking back it's very clearly a bolt-on.mediocreplayer wrote: ↑Wed Oct 02, 2024 9:12 amIt seems from the specs that this is a bolt-on 25.5” setup.
But, yeah, it's basically a Jazzmaster with P90s and a different body shape.
