I went for their second night which was their all-covers set. It was pretty great.

Re: Show me some cool Basses
That‘s the one I found on my local used market platform. It‘s a 100 bucks - so probably no harm done.
I found a Silvertone branded bass that looked quite similar, just with a Tortoise guard (not so cool as the black though)

Squier Jag SS (short scale). I think the best testament to their quality is that they regularly sell for twice as much used as they used to new. They’re great platforms for modding - this one has been pretty much completely tricked out, the only stock things are body and neck…

There’s one for sale locally and it took me down a rabbit hole. I really dig the natural finish version.

Re: Show me some cool Basses
I was tempted to go with the Guild 301 or 302 befor I found my Yamaha. I’ve never even laid eyes on a 401, though! How does it sound with the preamp? Is it Stingray-like?marqueemoon wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 7:39 pm

I actually replaced the stock black guard with that tort lol. Ideally it’d be Spitfire, but that’d cost more than the bass!MayTheFuzzBeWithYou wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 1:02 amGot one on my watchlist - but it‘s the 34“ version.
I don‘t like the stock Tort (either as I see here) - but otherwise it‘s damn cool looking!

No idea as it’s not mine. I no longer think active electronics are the devil though.wproffitt wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 4:13 amI was tempted to go with the Guild 301 or 302 befor I found my Yamaha. 1971 Harmony H22 with (possibly original) flats. Sounds great with some fuzz.

Re: Show me some cool Basses
Well your‘s isn‘t the awful stock VM tort, or is it? The CV Tortoise looks nice most of the time (but it’s not available in the current lineup)… but the one that came with my VM Olympic White Jag looked terrible. And the one that is for sale in Austria looks the same… yours looks more red&brownish and has some yellow in it that the stock one does not.
I didn‘t know the VM Jag Bass even came in all black…
But in my defense I normally don‘t browse through Basses at all… that‘s a first for me!
