Ha, funny you should ask. I only bothered to test that out last night and the guitar balances perfectly on my lap.
The body actually has a bit of weight to it and it sits on my knee right where the switch and neck pickup is.

This is trailblazing.. Im hoping it inspires a glut of jag scale/type 12s for those who dont get on with 25.5

Looks great with the Dano bridge!
I fully expect the shorter scale to be an improvement. I had already decided that if I ever build another XII, it is going to be a short scale, so I look forward to reading what you think about it.

I have to admit, this guitar was originally intended to be a 6 string with a Duo-sonic/toronado bridge but the design was screaming for it to be a 12 string. Plus I have a thousand guitars and I don't own a 12 string yet.
The short scale decision was an aesthetic choice but I reckon it will play well as a 12 string. The strings will be slightly looser, like they are with a 24" scale. Less tension on the neck too.

Oh man, this gives me so many ideas. I'm going to be super interested in what you think of the jag pickups with the 12 too. I just happen to have a set of those lying around...

That 12-string looks like the result of an affair between a Fender XII and Brian May’s Red Special. That’s gotta be a good thing, in my books.

I finally bought a fretboard radius jig.
I could have made one but decided to buy one. But I made the sled, at least.
It's set up for vintage 7 1/4" radius.
It worked pretty well. Very accurate. Although next time, I won't glue the binding on first as it chipped off and I had to redo it, which was a huge pain.

And a couple of days later!
Test assembly.
I can't do much more to it for now because the weather here is crap.
In the meantime, I can file the nut etc, and string it up.

I strung it up for a test run. Glad I don't make harps. What a pain in the arse!
So far so good. I like to try the neck out before I do any fret leveling. And also, I don't like going crazy on
filing the frets down. It shortens their life span. So I only do what's necessary.

The neck pickup is omitted so I can access the truss rod. And I'm still waiting on the 3D-printed XII string tree.
