it is a metallic black ,dont know if it is visible in the pics but in the sun it is cool cause have some brass sparkle in it



the body seems ok but i have some run on the neck will see later i let it rot (dry) for one month before looking it for polishing

since my life is too much busy i have no real spare time since too much time but i have fight to do lot of things during my holidays cause if not it will stay untouch for lot of time again

Balls EBF-50 in Navy! Return of an old favorite. Basically what would happen if you made an English bend on a blackface-style circuit. Variable negative feedback presence control, mid-range control, EL34s, PPI-MV. Great, rather clean amp. Sorta does a Hiwatt thing.

I'm about to attempt to repair this Ibanez bass headstock.
I'll use splines and all that.
The only problem I have is that the headstock has been repaired before, then broken again in the same spot.
So there is some kind of glue residue there. I can't use titebond. I need something stronger.
Does anyone have any idea what the best glue to use for this would be?
Or is there some way of melting off the existing glue using Acetone or something?

No, but I have the amp for a few days before it goes out. I'll see if I cant make a clip.

It's getting there. The end's definitely in sight now. I'm working on getting my spells of doubt to not last as long, having the last one last the thick end of 10 years really slows you down.

Looking good, I like what you did with the upper bout, nice detail.

I'm pretty pleased with what 19 year old me came up with overall. A few things I might change but hindsight's 20:20 and all that.

I used the surprise long weekend to get more done and spent too many hours sanding so I could get the top stained and start getting some clear on the body before gluing the neck on. It's a bit patchy but having not done it before I'm giving myself a pass.


Once there's more of the clear on there, hopefully the (pretty subtle) carving on the top will start to catch the light a bit more.

The bass side piece of the back might be my favourite piece of wood. Shame it won't be seen as much as the front and that I don't really know what it is to get any more of it once I run out of it.

I can only see uneven glue residue on the left of your photo. If that all there is, then it was never glued properly.

It looks yellowish to me so could have been hide glue? try removing a tiny bit with hot water to find out. Don't get the wood soaked.

Stewmac's fish glue worked a treat for me...

Yeah. I'm guessing it's some kind of araldite or super glue.
I'm now thinking of gluing it back together using a combination of Titebond and something else.
Scraping off as much of the previous glue as possible.
Because the newer part where it broke doesn't have any glue on it.

Finally picked this project back up. It's for my wife, and I paused work on it when we started a kitchen renovation.

Custom St. Vincent with a 24" Macassar Ebony/roasted curly maple neck and a 2 piece, light weight Okoume body. I'll probably reuse a fantastic pair of MojoUK firebird sized gold foils that need to be in a better guitar than they are in now. She never settled in a color, but has mentioned electric blue, chartreuse, or blue-violet as possibilities.
