One of my Mustangs now has a Jaguar vibrato!
Where did you get that square top plate for the trem?

Ha! awesome. That's my tremolo design. Designed for an Epiphone, Aria ET270
Yes! Was not 100% it would work how I wanted but absolutely did. Thank you!

It looks great on a mustang. Maybe I should design one that is fitted for a Mustang.

The plate doesnt quite cover every bit of the top two original mustang vibrato screw holes but its close enough. I am happy. It works perfectly. Just need to bend the arm so its more comfortable.
This has got to be the best solution ive seen for a jag trem equipped mustang. Looks so right! :-*

That looks fantastic. I made my own that was more Mustang shaped, that I used on this Talman, that used to have a Mustang trem. I've never been able to get the arm right for it though. The straight section that fits in to the collet is too short, so the bar hits the bridge.

My local shop and vendor, Main Drag Music, is celebrating their 25th anniversary today with an open house and swap meet kinda deal. I'm manning a table as a builder just to chat about my shit and also selling a couple of one-offs from the past that I have kicking around. While I was at it I whipped up a quick driver with some on-hand items. A muff that's not a muff....low gain "Russian" style setup with softer clipping and a treble roll-off instead of the scooped BMP stack.

I've taken the better part of the last month off to catch up with taxes, sleep, health and friends; now I've got a surfeit of projects lined up- here are three of about 9:
Image
This '81 Fullerton made Fender Bullet, in all of its plywood glory. Unfortunately, a prior owner gave it a forearm carve, relieving it of any collector value, but I'm restoring it in Vintage White & adding a set of Q Pickups Mustangs to satisfy the current owner's nostalgia and love for his first guitar.

Image
smjenkins' '66 Jazzmaster, in for a re-re-fin in Turquoise Blue Metallic.

Image
this '86 Fender Jazz Bass is getting a Sunrise Gold base coat before getting an Ancient Bronze Sparkle relic finish. I was originally going to do this finish for Philly free jazz & funk legend Jamaladeen Jacuma, but he's decided he wants a holographic coral glitter finish, instead. I liked the idea so much that I had to do it anyway.

I'm working on 3 different refinish projects at the moment. First is my Squier Classic Vibe '70s Jaguar that I had sold but was damaged by UPS during its shipment. I refunded the buyer and took back the guitar to have a go at fixing it. Here is the lovely hole they added.

Image

In hindsight, I probably should have used resin, but I had wood putty on hand and sealed it with laquer - not pretty but it got the job done.

Image

Using the same Gracey's Vintage Finishes' Daphne Blue, at least now I can match the body to the headstock. This is actually my 2nd attempt. The first attempt was a few weeks back - the first rattle can's nozzle caused a lot of droplet problems. After scuffing it back up, I had another try today. New can also had some droplets even after shaking it well and soaking in warm water between each usage. Maybe since it was a decent warm day, it turned out better (albeit with one or two (or three) minor imperfections. At this point, I'm just moving forward.

Image

I have more blue guitars than I should, so I decided to give my Squier Classic Vibe '60s Jazzmaster (Daphne Blue) body a Burgundy Mist makeover with a matching headstock using Gracey's Vintage Finishes' Burgundy Mist. The neck is actually a Squier Vintage Modified with Roswood fretboard, so this one is a keeper. Fortunately, I had no droplet issues with the Burgundy Mist rattle can that I had with the Daphne blue one. I'm quite happy with how this one turned out.

I'll do the clear coats on both bodies next Tuesday after 4 days of forecasted rain. I went ahead and did 2 coats of clear on the headstock. I'll wait a few weeks to put on a decal, then do another coat or 2 of clear on it. Prior to putting on the clear coats, the headstock was stunningly perfect. Unfortunately, I overdid it a bit with the first clear coat. I was much more conservative on the 2nd clear coat. It looks like it got a bit cloudy on the headstock now. :fp:

Image

I may end up scuffing it all back up and having a redo next week when the weather clears up.

The last guitar body I worked on about week ago was my Tele Cabronita build. I did it in a General Finishes Stain Whitewash and then used General Finishes High Performance Flat Clear Coat. It's my first attempt at a whitewash and I probably didn't apply enough of the whitewash stain but I was afraid to overdo it. I did 3 coats. This Cab build will have Gretsch Filter'Trons in it.

I find using this kind of tape really useful for getting a professional-looking sharp line when masking off the headstock and the bit where it transitions into the fretboard/nut.

Finished that Hot Rod Deluxe renovation that we discussed earlier:

Near-complete gut job, kept the existing iron and chassis. Replaced the circuit with a more traditional BF style preamp, with a proper master volume and cathode biased 6L6 output stage. Like the big brother to the BF-15s that I've made before. Fantastic clean tones that compress beautifully as you drive it hard.

A client's Ibanez RG-something in for a once-over and setup. I forgot how fiddly a Floyd can be but I got it there in the end. Fun to have a little blast on afterwards too (not that I can shred...but I can chug-a-lug 🤘🏻)
