I'm going to name it J. Barney Rogers Nelson II. My original intent was to do my own take on the original, MIJ J. Mascis Jazzmaster, but the Prince vibes are undeniable.garyptaszek wrote: ↑Sat Jan 08, 2022 2:20 amInsert Prince gif hereLost In Autumn wrote: ↑Fri Jan 07, 2022 12:39 pmTone chambered, flat-top, single bound Ash Jazzmaster:

Re: What's on your workbench right now?
Here is something different for you. I'm building a semi-hollow bass VI. There is a 4" wide solid core with hollow wings. I would appreciate some opinions on choice of bridge, etc.
First, here is the picture of the mock-up with the body still needing a few wraps of veneer around the perimeter.
And now my questions, from top to bottom of the picture:
1) football jack on the side or strat jack on the back to do double duty as a mini cover plate?
2) bridge ideas? I have ruled out string-through because I never get them aligned. There isn't room for a Bigsby. It will be supported by the solid core.
3) I've planned my dimensions for three or four wraps of veneer, alternating colours. Should I use 3, leaving dark on the outside, or four, leaving light on the outermost wrap?
4) do I bother with the switch for single or double coil? If so, do I position it near the knobs or on the upper horn?
5) for the headstock, I can strip it to clear maple or veneer it to match the face birds-eye, the side clear maple or the side dyed maple. The builder of the neck (DC Kunkle) said the headstock was originally pained to cover is some discolouration of the wood.

1) electrosocket?
2) single string bridge(s)?
Used on the bass for prominent Croatian bass player.
He is very happy!

I love Tele-shaped headstocks (on anything...guitar, bass, ukuleles, acoustics, etc.). It never occurred to me to use one as the basis of a 2+2 tuner arrangement. That looks pretty cool, actually. And the bass itself is really nice. I love that body design/finish treatment.

But no way am I taking a stab at answering all those personal choice questions other than #4. Forget the switch and put the option in as a push/push volume pot. If you hate it, it’s easy to remove. If you drill a hole in the top for a switch…

All the parts for a modified Blonde Showman build except arguably the most important part: THE CHASSIS.
