Refinishing this Harley Benton Telecaster that came out of the factory with a severe amount of blushing, check it out:
now in the process of starting the clear coating stage of the 7up metallic diamond green.
So far, so good.
Pondering about replacing the lipstick with the spare Jaguar bridge pickup in my parts bin, what do you guys think? Yay or nay?

dialing it in, but very happy with my take on CAR which is more like a faded CAR to burnt orange. I was aiming for something in between metallic KO and regular candy apple red:
This was right before I put a mute on it and a shim as I like the action as low as possible without buzz.

Snarf, your Burgundy Mist and now this are absolutely perfect. If you ever offer refins I'm first in line.snarf wrote: ↑Sun Jul 04, 2021 5:10 amdialing it in, but very happy with my take on CAR which is more like a faded CAR to burnt orange. you got it! Its a combination of time and supplies. I'm definitely scared to refin on someone elses guitar because I haven't figured out a good way to strip body bodies. If you wanted a raw body finished from guitar mill/guitarbuild I could do that at some point in the near future.N0_Camping4U wrote: ↑Sun Jul 04, 2021 3:17 pmSnarf, your Burgundy Mist and now this are absolutely perfect. very glad you like it! means things are going in the right direction as we have very similar taste. I'll keep you posted.

trying my hand at spraying metal flake again:
It should look nice once it's buried under gloss and under natural lighting instead of this bright white LED bulb. Good for spotting defects, dirt/dust though.

I'm making this thinline Jazzcaster with both contours cut for Jag scale neck at the moment.
The guard only just fit on the tortoise sheet I had - there was less than 1mm spare on each edge, so I was really careful to line it up straight and get my zero in the right place!

Amp #2 for the day!
Balls VIP-40. The VIP is for Vox/Plexi and is a sort of taking a JTM/JMP/5F6A approach to the AC-30 TB. It's kinda like an AC-30 except both brilliant and normal channels are "top-boost-ed" and it has a linked input like a jumpered plexi. Separate normal and brilliant volume controls let you blend the two channels as desired. No Vox-style cut control because its irrelevant in this format. Cathode biased and no negative feedback to retain that Vox feel. This is a 40 watt version using 2 EL34s. Sounds killer and super fun to play.
