my first real electric guitar finally gets what it deserves *strat project* fin

Post by dug » Fri Nov 28, 2008 11:34 pm

I've had my strat laying around for years. Its my first Fender and I used to love it. Its a Fender Strat mim squire series.
I pulled it out a few weeks ago and felt bad for it, I decided to give it some upgrades.

Image
I took off the crappy tuners and put one some vintage look'n ones. These were on my duo when I got it.
I put the jagmaster neck on the duo, so I liberated the tuners for this project.

Image
That ones a little crooked, I moved it as I was tightening the screw. I'll fix it later.

Image
I ordered a new black pickguard for it. It had a single ply white one. It looked alright, but I'm a sucker for a blackguard.

Image
I put a new bridge on it, because the other one was rusted to death. This guitar used to have stickers all over it.
I don't like stickers anymore so I took them off, cept for the deg. Those are my initials plus someone elses are scratched into the guitar under them.

Image
I've got new pickups and electronics on the way. I'm wiring it up with 500k pots and a push/pull pot so I can have all 3 pickups on.
Thanks to a forum member (Jetset) I'm putting a set of these in there. http://store.guitarfetish.com/64stvigrbost.html

It'll end up looking like a Gilmour strat. I loved that look before I ever knew he played that black strat.
When I was a kid I saw a pic of Kurt Cobain with a strat that had a black pg and white pickups and I thought it looked awesome.

It turns on the bridge pickup, so I can have neck/bridge or all the pups at one time.
Its kinda weird sounding, its really different.

Nice project! I remerber that pic of Kurt Cobain with the stick on it. Something like: Vandalism is as beautiful as a rock in a cop's face!
