In a word: yes.  Your neck needs to rest in the bottom of the pocket, or you're going to have intonation issues.  Also make sure that once you dowel and re-drill the neck holes that the 12th fret is 12.75 inches from the saddles (all strats are 25.5 inch scale).  You shouldn't have any fit issues, as all strats are (or "should be") made to the same specs...

So, i didn't drill it until now.
a) i'm being totally lazy right now
b) our drill is shit
c) i haven't got the wood glue i was talking about
:-\

But there's progress on the pickguard!
The guy who soldered it for me already got & finished it, i just have to transfer the money to get it.
Good news, after the long wait for Rockinger to send it.

If the neck is a little askew, you give it a push in the right direction so that it's straight again.

Someone knows where I can find the nearest woodchipper to throw my pieces of junk into?

If it doesn't work, Pete T. from England had found another method. Applies even to glued necks.

Would be cool if you wouldn't always quote that pic, if you have to talk nonesense round here.

Here's the guard, not ready, from Friday. It should be finished now and has plastic parts in off-white on it (ignore the yellowed bridge pickup).
