Thanks for the heads up on the chore that is using a heat gun .... I may go with sanding instead. Lol.
Again, great work! Lovely guitars. Kind regards.

OK, this one I very much need to follow because I'm enamored with metallic oranges in general.glennleaguesny wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2023 6:20 pm
I had this Cyclone body laying around from a Pro Audio sale last year. Decided to give Krylon Glitter Blast a try. This is the Orange Blast glitter over a “Matte Sunshine” base

Everything from this batch is wet sanded and buffed! Now just waiting on parts to slowly trickle in. Really liking how they came out so far. I will post finished pictures once they are all assembled !

Re: glennleaguesny Refinishing Quest
Been a while waiting for parts to come in and nitro to cure! The first 2 guitars out of the recent refinish batch are done!
First is a Burgundy Mist Jazzmaster:
Second is a Ocean Turquoise Metallic Jazzmaster:
Have a couple more that are all finished and just waiting for various parts to arrive, will post pics once they are done!
Now for a couple more that are in progress:
First is a Cyclone that I had originally sprayed in an Orange Krylon Glitter Blast. I started layering on 2X Rustoleum clear. I noticed that the clear was clumping and leaving almost little “balls” of clear in the sparkle. Looked super strange. I decided to strip the glitter blast completely (what a nightmare). I’m going to change plans for this one after being inspired by a recent sparkle guitar post. The plan now for this is a “Tropi Cali” basecoat, a “Silver Sparkle” glitter coat, and then finishing it off with a “Tropi Cali” kandy coat, all from Roth Metal Flake.
Also starting work on this beat Gibson Grabber body my buddy picked off cheap from Reverb last year. We got the seams glued and clamped them back into place. Not sure what the plan is color wise, maybe just an aged nitro clear.
Also finished this Gibson SG in a Heather Poly nitro:

What BMM is that? Gracey's?

Hey! Yup that's Gracey's. I found the Gracey's one to be the shade I was most thinking of. The Oxford one was a bit too plum purple. There's a company called Great Lakes that has some really cool colors and I'd like to try their BMM one day!

Re: glennleaguesny Refinishing Quest
Hey! If you look above, you'll see the current progress on that one haha. The clear ended up clumping pretty bad in the Krylon Glitter Blast. I ended up stripping it all off and I'm going to try another route. I used Roth Metal Flake for another guitar in this batch and liked it, so I'm going to try a Tropi Cali base coat from them and pair it with their Silver Flake, and finish off with a Tropi Cali Kandy coat at the end. I will post pics of the progress!GilmourD wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 4:02 amSo, how's this beauty going?GilmourD wrote: ↑Fri Jun 09, 2023 7:16 amOK, this one I very much need to follow because I'm enamored with metallic oranges in general.glennleaguesny wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2023 6:20 pm

Oh, derp! Totally missed that since my eye was looking for orange. LOLglennleaguesny wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 4:35 amHey! If you look above, you'll see the current progress on that one haha. I'm looking to do my Marrguar in a sparkle orange and people have apparently had good luck doing a candy version with this stuff.
This stuff as a base coat: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B4GQD1E?th=1
Then this stuff, which I discovered is translucent, over it: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00099BJVQ?th=1
This isn't mine but what I'm hoping to achieve.

Re: glennleaguesny Refinishing Quest
Looks great! I expect the Roth one to probably be a bit lighter and more on the coral/orange side. They didn't make the perfect orange, but I'm hoping I can get close. I'll post pictures here once I spray so you can judge the color for yourself. I just sprayed primer yesterday, hoping to do some color this weekend!GilmourD wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 7:34 amOh, derp! Re: glennleaguesny Refinishing Quest
Just finished up putting together the Blue Sparkle Jazzmaster. It’s pretty done for now, I may stain the pickup covers a bit darker and maybe swap the knobs. Musikraft neck, Guitar Mill body, Spitfire pickguard, Halon bridge, Mojo UK CuNiFe pickups. Super hard to photograph this one:

Both the blue sparkle and burgundy mist are just beautiful. Amazing work!
