American Professional Jazzmaster Bridge
I recently discovered that Fender is selling this American Professional Jazzmaster Bridge:
American Professional Jazzmaster Bridge
It looks very similar to what Staytrem offers.
Anyone tried then both?
Staytrems are hard to get at the moment and this seem to be a budget alternative.
Any pro's and con's over the Staytrem?

Re: American Professional Jazzmaster Bridge
I got a used one cheap but haven‘t installed it yet.
One obvious disadvantage is that they are plated (vs Staytrem = Stainless Steel) - so if you‘re a heavy sweater it might lose its shininess. If you don‘t mind such a patina - you‘re good.

It's more expensive than a Staytrem (£119 vs £70) and only comes in 9.5" radius

Nope, it's available in 7.25" as well.johnnysomersett wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 3:05 amIt's more expensive than a Staytrem (£119 vs £70) and only comes in 9.5" radius

Regarding the price: you get it cheaper at dealers like Thomann and the likes

Re: American Professional Jazzmaster Bridge
I have one of each. The Staytrem was custom for my compound radius neck (12-16). That said, I don't notice much difference between them. Its hard to compare because one is on a hard-tail with WRHB and the other is using a Mastery with JM pickups so I can't say if there is really a difference in tone because there are so many other factors. Is there something you want me to look for?

Re: American Professional Jazzmaster Bridge
Yes indeed, for some reason Fender has recently started calling the 7.25" radius Marr jaguar bridge an "American Professional" bridge. Along with the 9.5" bridge that has actually been used on the American Professional series jags and JMs. To name a 7.25" bridge that way - which has never been on any American Professional series guitar (so far) - is simply confusing.echoplex wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 3:11 amNope, it's available in 7.25" as well.johnnysomersett wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 3:05 amIt's more expensive than a Staytrem (£119 vs £70) and only comes in 9.5" radius

Both the 9.5" Am Pro bridge and the 7.25" Marr bridge have been available for a number of years under those names, so the reason for the change in name for the Marr bridge is obscure.
Fender now shows the 7.25" Marr/"Am Pro" bridge with the part number 7712971049. The original Marr bridge's part number was 0091905000, when it had 56mm E-E spacing. Fender later changed the E-E spacing to 52mm, and the part number changed to 7712971000 (ie similar but not quite the same as Fender's current published number). Riley (the usual authority on part numbers) lists that latest bridge version (now Fender's "Am Pro" 7.25") showing both those part numbers (7712971049 and 7712971000):

The 7.25" Marr/"Am Pro" bridge is more 'Staytrem-like' than the 9.5" Am Pro bridge, in that it has the anti-sink nylon bushings on the bottom of the posts, similar to the Staytrem's.

Re: American Professional Jazzmaster Bridge
I just ordered and put to use both the 9.5 and 7.25 version of this bridge, as already mentioned the 7.25 is a Mustang/Marr Jag. That one is a little sturdier on the posts/screws and has the addition on the bushing. I like it better for the design, they should all be like that from Fender.
