Jaguar pickups in a mustang body?

Post by javier-san » Wed Sep 21, 2022 9:55 pm

Ok...I've got a bin of parts that I would like to use and there is a Fender Mustang body that I am looking to buy.

What would I need to get jaguar pickups to work on a mustang? Would I need to route body deeper and wider to accommodate the jaguar pickups?

Has anyone done this before?

This is what looks like against a Fender Vintera Mustang:

Assuming you want to put the Jaguar pickup slanted, it could either be a very tight fit or a relatively small widening routing job with a chisel or a dremel if you don't have a router.

In regards to the pickup depth, here some measurements for reference:

Vintera Mustang: 17.40 mm
Vintage Mustang: 15 mm (0.59")

MIJ Jaguar: 15 mm (0.59")
Vintage Jaguar: 9.5 mm (0.375")

I hope it helps
