Reckon you should add the purple/BMM votes to allow for differences in people’s screen colours. Likewise the willow and firemist, they’re split votes I reckon.

Re: Impulse buy incoming from Japan.... Help me pick a color!
Its here!!!!
So even though Firemist ended up pulling off a come from behind last minute victory in the polls, purple was holding a slim lead throughout the duration, and I eventually realized purple was my main choice anyways so I went ahead and got some 67 Mustang Purple mixed up.. I think its my favorite shade of purple ever.. I'm calling it "Purple Ice Metallic"
But first, I had to remedy a few of Eastwoods famously questionable design choices.. The pickguard/plate situation just wasnt doing it for me. The huge gap around the bridge and weird fat Jazz Bass control plate were making it kinda look like an Aliexpress copy guitar or something. Decided to have a new guard cut by my buddy Jeff over at Lomic Guitars to work with a Mustang control plate and close the bridge gap a bit. A quick mockup shows i'll have to glue some kind of block to the control cavity to give the 'stang plate somewhere to screw onto, but thats no biggie as itll be hidden from view.
They for some reason omitted the forearm contour and gave the whole body a thin, sharp tele-esque roundover. Just felt a bit too clunky and pointy to me, so I went crazy with some sandpaper and ended up here:
Finally, time for paint <3
Clear coat going on today and she should be ready to polish up in a week or two! Now to try to keep my GAS at bay until then

Re: Impulse buy incoming from Japan.... Help me pick a color!
For all interested.. The Maverick is finally complete!!
Turns out these are actually 24.75" scale reissues, oddly enough. Another classic eastwood design choice! Had to trim the guard around the bridge a little bit but its not very noticeable. Swapped the tremolo for a Fender Classic Player unit, threw on some F tuners (i have a spare 3x3 set now since i had to buy a lefty set and regular set and use 3 of each lol. DM me if you need those because i dont think i will anytime soon) and an F neck plate for aesthetic reasons. Also aged the pearloid inlays to look old and vintage along with relic waxing the fretboard and rolling the edges. Some Chromes flatwound 10-48 strings and a .25 degree neck shim later, she's playing pretty perfectly for my hands.
All in all, turned out even better than i couldve imagined. I've got 2 mustang-type guitars, a strat, a couple oddball 60s catalog style offsets, but have been sorely needing some sort of jazzmaster/jag type build in my guitarsenal for a while now. This perfectly scratches that itch for me and has the added bonus of being totally out there and weird and something you dont see every day. Its actually inspired me to pick back up on writing this album ive been working on for the past 2 yrs or so, and thats the whole point of why we get new guitars right? To be that much more excited to play again

Looks great. The reworked pickguard and control plate make a big difference.

Odd scale choice for sure. It turned out great though. Good call on redoing the pickguard.

Yeah i didnt even notice it until i went to fit the guard and the bridge was in a different spot! Very odd choice indeed but i kinda like it bc it kind of splits the difference between jag and jm scale lengths. I've never quite been able to decide which one i definitively like best so this is a happy medium!ThePearDream wrote: ↑Sat Sep 03, 2022 12:05 pmOdd scale choice for sure. It turned out great though.
