I filled out a huge PayPal case and it was immediately closed, turns out PayPal resolutions are only available if the transaction is 180 days or newer. Since I sent them the money back in February and this has become a 11 month long process I guess it isn't an option . Looks like I'm at the mercy of MJT. I better start saving my pennies up for a new refin.

Did you pay with a credit card? If so, they might be able to help.

I wish I had, I just went back and checked and it says I paid with my bank account linked through PayPal. I appreciate the input though, that would have been a good possibility!

Small claims court? Their clause about not accepting returns isn't some get-out-of-jail-free card for doing shit work.

This. Their clause is clearly for returns of custom work, not custom work that isn't up to the standard you were expecting.Horsefeather wrote: ↑Fri Dec 02, 2022 7:37 pmSmall claims court? Their clause about not accepting returns isn't some get-out-of-jail-free card for doing shit work.
You've been a lot more polite with them than I would've been, hopefully that pays off. If they gave you a full refund they could just ding it up and sell it on to someone who wants a relic, that'd be less hassle than completely redoing (and it still not being up to the standard you want).

Re: MJT Quality Issues?
Small claims court is a lot of work for the amount of money.
Sadly the most pragmatic way forward may be to let them ding it up as they suggest, get the correct parts, and sell it as-is on Reverb to recover as much $$ as you can.
Then start over.

Still waiting on them to reply from my email on Friday afternoon , I will keep the thread updated as we go. I have a feeling they didn't like my last email too much.

There was a guy who got a lemon Porsche and went around and around with the company getting nowhere until he made some youtube videos documenting how they were mistreating him. This was enough to motivate Porsche to do the right thing.
Seems like a great strategy to me and, even if it accomplishes nothing else, serves as a helpful PSA to others who may be contemplating their own projects.

The fact that they want you to go to the trouble of returning the incorrect parts before sending you the right ones, tells me so much about the kind of company they are. You're getting crap customer service across the board from them, but that sticks out. Any decent company would have immediately sent the right parts, and told your to keep the wrong ones.

I think the major issue is that MJT feel they don’t need your business. They’ve already made their money off of you. Sloppy work or not, they’re keeping a backlog of customers. They’re simply only worried about quantity at this point.

I've actually thought about making a video just for the sake of helping other people out and saving them the headache I've gone through. I think this would be a good idea.Horsefeather wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 1:48 pmThere was a guy who got a lemon Porsche and went around and around with the company getting nowhere until he made some youtube videos documenting how they were mistreating him. I agree completely, or the fact that they won't let me just return all the hardware for my money back considering they screwed it twice is crazy. Pretty annoyed about the hardware situation too because back in February when I ordered the full kit I was under the impression they used Fender parts. I found out very quickly they don't and I emailed them to cancel the kit and told them I only want the paint. They told me I already paid for it and it's locked in, nothing they can do about it. Now I have bass hardware and half of their Allparts kit missing.ThePearDream wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 4:00 pmThe fact that they want you to go to the trouble of returning the incorrect parts before sending you the right ones, tells me so much about the kind of company they are. I think you are right, it's the second business day since Friday and they still haven't replied to my last email. It's a shame as well that a boutique guitar builder like this would be sloppy to begin with, I've seen squier bullets with better quality control with their finishes than this.Unicorn Warrior wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 4:21 pmI think the major issue is that MJT feel they don’t need your business. Re: MJT Quality Issues?
Been nearly a full business week and still no reply. Starting to wonder if I'm even going to get the parts I paid for at this point.
