Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster tuners

Post by suburbanexplorer » Thu Jun 30, 2022 5:53 am

Hi, can anyone tell me what locking tuners will be a direct drop-in replacement for my SJMJM stock tuners, without needing drilling? What's the right ratio and hole size? Thanks!

See the post above for the actual answer to your question. With that being said, the stock JMJM tuners are very well made and don't *need* replacing. Are you having tuning issues? If so, you're likely looking at the wrong place for the source of the problem.

[NOTE: I fully expect LarryMal to give me an earful, but I do think it's worth asking since I see people buying locking tuners to fix tuning stability issues well over half the time.]

Thanks a lot for the replies. The tuning issues aren't too bad, but I might change the nut at some point. Locking tuners are more a personal preference for faster string changes (and weirdly, I like the weight...)

for vintage style locking tuners, I like Wilkinson EZ-Lok, but they don't add any additional weight.
