Another alternative for Jags is The Creamery's Sonic '60 for Jag pickups. They're mini Tri-Sonics in a Jag form factor, complete with claws. I have never tried them, but I have full-size Tri-Sonics in one of my guitars ― they are the same basic construction as lipsticks ("air coil" around alnico bar magnet) and fall in the same sonic ballpark. I suspect mini Tri-Sonics should sound even closer to lipsticks than full-sized ones, as the coils are of similar physical size.

Ok they finally arrived this week. Looks like I'll have to widen the pickup cutouts on the pickguard quite a bit :bored:

Will try to get that checked and/or done tomorrow. Sharpening the butcher's knife already...

Well actually no, won't have to cut up the pickguard, but I'll have to find a way to cut down the baseplate a bit. I don't have the correct tools, but might find a way... Stay tuned.

Does the actual pickup go into where the uppper control plate is, or just the feet? It's difficult to tell from the angle of the photo.

But in any case, you could try to slant them like on various guitars, to not need to cut into metal. It'd require more of a route of the body itself and a completely new pickguard, of course.

Also, looking at the picture of the Jag here in the thread, are those longer or are they not quite centered on the strings? Even so, maybe a minor offset of the pickup to one side would probably not be visually noticeable. And it should be a bar magnet underneath, so exact location shouldn't matter that much in either case?

If I read the spec sheets correctly: The pickups fit the pickguard but the baseplate does not.
I always thought that one of those smaller ones like on a Strat Sized Lipstick.
If you don‘t want to cut it… this might be an option. 5 bucks for two from Mojotone but I‘m pretty sure these parts are available somewhere else too!

But I don‘t know if these parts are interchangeable!
Novak has a straight one in that with (so smaller than the original)

Dunno, I'd personally just try what niksureal said and bend the existing feet etc and drill new holes to get them to align with the Jag drill holes. Since none of the wiring is tied to the pickguard, you can adjust setup with the guard removed and put it back when you're happy...

If Pacafeliz gets someone to bend it for him or gets the tools he needs to do so - this will probably still be the easiest way. I don't know how niksureal's mounting looks like underneath....and haven't had such parts in my hand yet - so can't argue what would be the least hassle... but the parts do exist and if the holes align (?) why not try it? - in my perception a completely straight mounting plate (even those from Novak) would be harder to mount than those bent smaller ones as they'd allow for easier access. But again: I could be wrong. But eager to learn for my own upcoming project! ::)

Apparently I've been reading the thread "on autopilot", no need to bend the legs as the baseplate is already straight... But yeah, probably need to figure out what kind of clearance is needed and a file or a dremel or something to cut the baseplate down a bit.

I'd just need a metal cutting thing and that'd be it.

Stay tuned!

i have done this on a couple of occasions. i usually use the standard danelectro style lipsticks with the tall brackets and just straighten them out most of the way with pliers so the legs are flattened but too long, cut off the excess (hack saw or dremel) so they fit into the jaguar, then drill new holes into the brackets to screw them direct to the wood.
works well and you only need a few tools. hope that made sense and helps. good luck either way.
I own a Danelectro 57', and the pickups seem very long. Did they fit into the Jag or did you have to route the pickguard and body?

Beautiful axe, btw

after the baseplate modification i described, they fit. the pickups themselves are roughly the same size as a jaguar pickup. little smaller actually.
