Dirt cheap Jaguar kit
Currently resisting the temptation the pull the trigger on this:
https://m.aliexpress.com/item/400012662 ... t=Pc2Msite
Has anyone got any experience of these?
Alongside the caveats of ordering off Aliexpress, I’m fully expecting the pickups and pots to be rubbish, but if the body, neck, routing, scale length and frets are decent it could be a pretty economical starting point for a project.

Bought an offset type off aliexpress a fiew years ago.
The control plates were made of mirrored plastic
Not same guitar as this but I would check with the seller.

Ha ha, fake metal.
As cheap as it is, I’m kind of hoping someone has already given it a go and can give some sort of reassurance, particularly as you’re not far off a second hand Squier at that price that you could mod.

Personally I'd just give it a pass... Dunno about your local market, but herewards I saw a decent used Squier for 280€, which is about a sneeze from what that Aliexpress kit comes down to including import taxes.
Nevermind it being a known commodity, already finished and probably a lot better quality parts as well.

Yeah, I agree. Really reinforces just how excellent value the recent Squiers are I guess.bodhi wrote: ↑Tue May 24, 2022 1:49 amPersonally I'd just give it a pass... I just noticed this - seems like the same kit - there appears to e a lip on the neck so I'm definitely staying away:

Oddly enough, I kindof want that mirror plastic. I’m eventually on a quest to make a light Jaguar and those would help a ton

It's probably just "mirror" acrylic, like WD Pickguard's color option #10.

Thin aluminum plates would be a good compromiseUnicorn Warrior wrote: ↑Tue May 24, 2022 10:22 amOddly enough, I kindof want that mirror plastic. I’m eventually on a quest to make a light Jaguar and those would help a ton

Looks like trash to me.

Stay away from these as far as you can. Sorry, but these are utter garbage... there is no other way to describe this attrocity.
Really, get a hold of used Squier Jaguar... You'll thank me later for that....
The one I once held wasn't even 24" scale to begin with.
