Blue Dye Ash Jazzmaster Finished Pg. 2

Post by HNB » Fri Apr 22, 2022 7:12 am

I got this ash Guitar Mill body so I could dye it blue with General Finish Blue dye/stain. Here is it before.

Then I applied the blue dye/stain and let it dry over night. I sanded it back this morning since it is water based and put another coat on. It is looking like exactly the blue I was hoping for. Very much like a Renaldo Jazzmaster. I am tempted to do all black plastic as a nod, but I also think doing red tort and cream plastics could be interesting and different. :D

I also already enlarged the bridge holes for thimbles and I routed the neck pickup rout about 1/4" deeper. I am using Seymour Duncan PAF under Jazzmaster cover pickups and they are slightly taller so the neck pickup ends up a little too high for where I would want it.

Looks great! 8)

I love General Finishes stains and milk paints. My next project is a Cabronita build using General Finishes White Wash stain. :)

I have been really impressed with their stuff. I have used black, brown, blue, and green all with great success. :)

Thanks! I can't wait for the pickguard to come in so I can get a better idea of how it will look when it is finished. :D

Is it an anodized aluminum guard or black painted aluminum?
